KB 3146706 still an unchecked security update

This update came down last Tuesday. There was another thread opened here on it, but it was closed and determined solved. KB 3146706 is an important security update for W7, W8 and Vista. It is odd for an important security update to come in unchecked. If you have windows update set to automatically install updates, this security update will not get installed. MS still has not withdrawn the update or checked it.

Got to be something holding back the decision. Sure would like to know what it is.

Someone here posted that this update increased his boot time by 50%.

In any case I wouldn't worry too much if MS left it pending there is a good reason they did so, most likely they will
send out a new update to replace this one next month.

I checked and installed it no big deal
I haven't seen any boot time increases on 3 machines.
Of course as all updates I made a system image before doing so

I've installed it, nothing bad to report yet. Had an increased boot time once after install, but after that it's been normal again. I was wondering why it was unticked though? Mistake by MS perhaps?

Lots of BSODs though. Seems it was originally received ticked for many users. Speculation is that this update does not play well on pirated Windows 7 systems. Probably unintended consequences, but MS is no doubt grinning big if this proves to be true.

We pay their toll for them and that is unacceptable. I had a big grin on my ugly face when I read about this. I sure hope it is true and MS can leverage something from it. Even governments use pirated Windows in certain countries. I am not a big defender of MS methods, but I do support anything they do to solve this insidious problem. Using subdiffusion on this issue is OK with me.

I did not install the KB in early April, but I see I got a new one and it is ticked on my system this time. I checked the KB info and there is nothing about EMET in the known issues. Other issues listed. I think I will hold off again. I have EMET so I can do without a BSOD present.

Well the pirates can go drown themselves for all I care.

I have EMET 5.5 installed and I want to know from MS if I can install this damn update this month or not. It is a recommended important security patch. Oh and EMET is an MS security Tool. Hello, there should be NO conflicts.

I got both KB3146706 updates - the original and the replacement a few days later.

The first KB3146706 update resulted in BSOD's only on shutdown and only with KB3147071 also installed.

Currently I do not have KB3147071 and there have been no further problems. KB3147071 shows up as an optional update.

Yea I left that one to collect dust KB3147071
I'd rather be fingered by captain hook than have any thing from Oracle installed so going to there site would not be happening anyway

The other one KB3146706 I have not gotten a repeat yet anyway.

Yea looks like M$ is going to knock down win-7 install #'s anyway they can

Stay away from it if you are not an Oracle fanboy. It appears it has nothing to do with KB3146706. Each has its own peculiarities.

The price of counterfeits; I don't care if its a operating system, program, music, movies or anything else will continue to cost all of us that buy such things. It's added into the price we pay.

The owners of such products will continue to try ways to stop or slow down counterfeiting. It cost them BILLIONS every year.
Those of us that pay the proper price from a proper seller will have to keep jumping through hoop just to buy and use such products.

To me this is just 2+2=4 as things stand now.

I am about to install 189 updates, could you please tell me how to make a system image? If case something goes wrong, can I load that image and revert to pre-install state?
