Solved KB3004375 and KB3031432 wont install.

KB3004375 and KB3031432 wont install. Other windows updates installed with any issue. I hide them for the time being.

What error code are you getting?

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Thank you Noel for helping me, it just won't install. I will try it again and post the log. I do have one of the legal pre-activated computer from dell if that makes any difference.

Here is the update log. It did finally install. I did have some internet connection problems though, that may have been the issue. If you just do those two files by themselves, it will install. If I do a restore from backup, I will see if that happens again. Thank you again for your help Noel


I would still be interested in why it didn't install with the other updates.

I overlooked the cbs log zip file instruction but most are too big. Here is all I could upload. Just a note, I can restore from an image file if needed for testing and it might have shorter cbs files.

There are no significant errors in any of the posted logs - and no data from either SSFC scan or CheckSUR scan.

Please run both CheckSUR and SFC again, and post a new set of logs.

How do you run checksur? I know the other. I won't be able to post back for awhile. When I do I will post the logs.

CheckSUR (aka SURT) is the KB947821 update (which isn't an update at all!) that you downloaded to post the original logs.

Thank you for your help Noel anyways. The problem is solved for the moment.

I had some other issues, so I had to restore from an image backups before the problem existed. I actually found the cause of it doing the backup & restore. It is very strange but if disk cleanup cleans the windows update files the problem happens, if I don't use disk clean up to clean up the windows update files the problem doesn't happen. It is showing no duplicates updates and I am not having any install issue right now.

This is a known problem with a number of updates - it seems they don't follow the proper logic and get removed by the DiskCleanup tool.
The current recommendation is to NOT use the tool at all until MS update either it or the affected updates.
