I let Windows update on my Dell laptop running Win7 x86, and the "KB4093118 2018-04 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows & x86 based systems" keeps showing as needing to be installed. I dont use this computer much so I expected there would a handful of updates waiting.

However I installed the same update (KB4093118) five times now before realizing it is the same update.

Each of the five installations shows in the Update History as "Successful". But then the Windows update available icon shows on the taskbar as "update is available", and it is the same update.

BTW, there was two other updates that were installed, and those only installed once. For some reason Windows does not seem to know that the KB..3118 was installed.

What is going on?

Could someone please say if that is just a typing mistake where it says 4083118 a couple times? I'm confused.

Thank you for the reply. I understand my question may have defied common sense or something, but I wanted to make sure because I struggle to comprehend all this stuff.

Thank you again for helping me.
