Kernel power 41 BSOD error

Hi,

This evening as I was working on a word document I had a BSODkernel power error. This is the first one I have experienced (have only had PC for a week or so). I have attached the information from the event viewer and also the .dmp file. This sort of thing is above me so your help is eagerly awaited!

I have scanned for viruses since and found 6 only adware cookies. I installed the office 2007 SP2 windows update this evening and also a silverline program (from windows update). Yesterday I installed new NVidia drivers for my GTS250 (there was no previous version of these to uninstall only the windows generic drivers so I installed over them). I just would like to know what its all about!

I thought I had. Tried again but get an 'ie cant display the webpage' error after a couple of minutes, now realise I got one of these the first time too. Thanks for quick response. Ah the zipped file is 86 MB, what have i done? (Original was 356 MB)!

the upload limit here is 8 mb. if you have rapidshare or something like that upload it there and post the link. You are going to want to change the setting in system control panel to kernal only. having the whole memory stack doesnt give us much more info and takes 10 times longer to look thru.

Try setting the power options to high performance mode.

If that doesn't help, run Memtest86+ overnight to test RAM.

Ok I will download and run memtest 86. This is only the first BSOD I have had so I am hoping it was just a one off, but that is probably too hopeful. How would putting the power settings to high performance potentially help? Thanks for your feedback.
