Solved Keyboard making sounds, won't repeat keystrokes - cat sat on keyboard!

Please help, my cat sat on my keyboard this morning and turned something on - it was a Flash keys option I think (or Filter Keys?) - couldn't really see around her. I now have noises each time I press a key and am not able to repeat keys easily - only one stroke per key is allowed at a time :huh:

I have no idea what keys she hit, but she was near the bottom left side of my keyboard. Can anybody help PLEASE?

Are the sounds like a hissing or scratching or more like a purrring........Sorry, I couldn't resist. -- Have you tried connecting a different keyboard? This way you would know if the keyboard is broken or if the cat set off a combination of keys that codes something into the PC.

If that doesn't work try a restore point before the hell cat attacked the keyboard.

It is a metal clicking noise (more like a tail tap?? )

She triggered something that popped up a screen which I could not read before it disappeared - it gave an option to proceed or not, but I did not get to the keyboard quick enough :shock:

At a guess, she turned on Toggle Keys. (Activated by holding down numlock for 5 seconds.)

See the "Easer of Access" control center, under "make the keyboard easier to use".

Thanks bobkn, but she was not near that key. The keys she was near are the Alt Ctrl Shift and Windows keys - is there any combination there that does something after a 5 second hold?

Try doing a System Restore to a point before Kitty sat on Keyboard.

Given I've never done one before, it sounds like that will delete any programs I've added recently. Is that correct?

If you started having this problem a couple days ago, I doubt if you have installed any programs since then. In the third paragraph, it does say that any programs or drivers installed since the date of the Restore Point will be deleted. Again, it is not your pictures we are talking about. It is only programs or drivers. When did this problem start?

A simple restart fixed it!

Now that the challenge and successful restart is completed try going to Start/Help and Support and typer in (Restore Point). Their/there are many things there/their that will give you the understanding needed for a Restore Point in case your ever need it in the future. Restore Point is a great tool.

Just for future reference. A Restore Point would only affect the Programs and Drivers that were put in AFTER the Restore Date you went back to. Nothing before that would be affected. == Glad you got it cleared up.
