I just recently built a new computer for my dad. Here are the specs:

I set up the computer with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and everything went smooth. Then I would get a blue screen after I turned off the computer through hibernation and then turned it back on. It even happened after I shut it down. I tried installing a hotfix for the bsod error code (which was 0x00000050) but it didn't help.

Now the computer blue screened again and this time it couldn't restore back to a safe point before the issues. My screen freezes (or keyboard goes unresponsive) when Windows says "Windows cannot restore back to a previous point" then it asks if I can choose a point or simply continue. I also cannot get into safe mode on this motherboard, F8 is unresponsive. If I try to boot from a CD, when I hit any key to do so, the keyboard goes unresponsive and I can't boot from a CD.

What can I do? I already formatted the Hard Drive on my pc in hopes that the computer would automatically boot to the CD but that didn't work. It just said that the Hard Drive has a problem and that I need to boot from a CD to fix it...

Edit: Ok I enabled legacy support for USB keyboards and mice and now I can boot from a CD, but does anyone know what I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Welcome!

Sounds like either a bad keyboard or corrupted install.

Disconnect the hard drive, and boot from the Installation disc. When you get to the language screen, plug the hard drive in again and select Rescan Disks.

Let us know if it works. That will help us diagnose the problem a bit more.

You can hotplug SATA drives. The new one you bought is surely SATA.

Ok I blue screened with an error 0x000000D1 the first time, and then I remembered to enable AHCI and now Windows finished reinstalling again. Hopefully I won't blue screen again, thanks guys.
