An upgrade to Win7 64 bit with a Killer NIC:
I had XP up and running, was shown Tiny7 and loved it but it is pirated and not 64 bit. I ran out and bought win7.
Backing up all my information to our XP server was easy and I was ready to upgrade.
I formatted the SSD boot drive, installed Tiny7 and set up a few more preferences then used the easy settings transfer. Reformat the SSD, Trim command, install my Win7 64 bit, use easy transfer, install programs and all was well. Almost..
My first mistake was using Homegroup, I could not see any other computers.
Wifey upgraded to Win7 32 bit while I was working on my file sharing problems and she could see me. Then we read Homegroup would never work with our XP server. Setting up Wifey with a workgroup took a bit but eventually I found a post here that worked. Still nada for sharing on my box using the same instructions.
The solution turned out to be a new driver for my Killer NIC Ethernet card. I could surf the net, share files, print and ping other network computers but never see them on the network until I updated to the Win7 64 bit drivers.
Note that after the initial install Windows 7 64 bit wanted to install the 32 bit drivers when I said "search automatically". I let it, and they seemed to work. Bad idea, should have downloaded the drivers manually in the first place.
