An upgrade to Win7 64 bit with a Killer NIC:
I had XP up and running, was shown Tiny7 and loved it but it is pirated and not 64 bit. I ran out and bought win7.

Backing up all my information to our XP server was easy and I was ready to upgrade.
I formatted the SSD boot drive, installed Tiny7 and set up a few more preferences then used the easy settings transfer. Reformat the SSD, Trim command, install my Win7 64 bit, use easy transfer, install programs and all was well. Almost..
My first mistake was using Homegroup, I could not see any other computers.
Wifey upgraded to Win7 32 bit while I was working on my file sharing problems and she could see me. Then we read Homegroup would never work with our XP server. Setting up Wifey with a workgroup took a bit but eventually I found a post here that worked. Still nada for sharing on my box using the same instructions.
The solution turned out to be a new driver for my Killer NIC Ethernet card. I could surf the net, share files, print and ping other network computers but never see them on the network until I updated to the Win7 64 bit drivers.
Note that after the initial install Windows 7 64 bit wanted to install the 32 bit drivers when I said "search automatically". I let it, and they seemed to work. Bad idea, should have downloaded the drivers manually in the first place.

That's impossible. 32-bit drivers are not compatible with a 64-bit OS.

Perhaps some of the problem:

Tiny 7 is a pirated/hacked and stripped version of Windows 7.

Its possible, some of whats needed for Win7 to operate as it should was removed.

Such as many things that whats left is dependant on, no longer exists or is disabled.

With your set up in your sig, and a SSD, why would you want to run a stripped version? Not to mention its a pirated.

7 will actually run smoother, especially with that set up, if you leave it as is and let it do its own tweaking.

Unlike XP, 7 tweaks itself.

Sometimes I get the feeling people scan posts and do not read.
Wishmaster - pointing at you here - as I posted, I like the feel of Tiny7 and know it is pirated. To maintain Tiny7's settings for UI in Win64 I used the Windows easy transfer. My store bought Windows 7 64 bit was installed on a freshly formatted HD (SSD). All legal and above board. Also very fast. Correct me if I am wrong but your post made me look like a pirate when I am not, I only used Tiny7's settings. For me fast = smooth.
And, NO a full install of Win7 will not run faster than Tiny7. Tiny7 was made with very limited things it can do, but it does them VERY quickly.
Another place to get 10% more speed out of Win7 is:
Windows 7 Service Configurations by Black Viper

FRED, you are very much correct and I was surprised the Killer NIC worked at all. As per Microsoft "
If I'm running a 64-bit version of Windows, do I need 64-bit drivers for my devices?

Yes, all hardware devices need 64-bit drivers to work on a 64-bit version of Windows. Drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows won't work on computers running 64-bit versions of Windows." But according to the version numbers on Bigfoot's site (they make Killer NIC) I had a 32 bit driver.

I only posted in case someone else is running a Killer NIC. Windows 64 bit downloaded the wrong driver. Simple, easy, to the point. If you have a Killer NIC and Windows 7 and any network problems, reinstall with the Killer NIC driver you know is correct.
