Kingston RAM Overclock?

No post with fans spinning?

If so, turn off the computer by holding the power button then wait for 5 seconds and turn on the computer gain.

I may have tried to push the ram too far. :p

No problem bro. I set the DRAM Frequency to 1000MHz, nothing serious. :D

Try increasing the 'NB Voltage' and 'NB 1.8v Voltage' both by .1 respectively.

You may have to re-input the overclock settings again. :p

I'm confused by what you mean. I increased the NB Voltage to 1.100, but what do you mean by the NB 1.8v Voltage?

I'm not sure really, it's in your manual but I do not have your mother or an Asus motherboard in general. I feel like a blind guy walking my dog.

Anyhow, your 'NB Voltage' defaults to 1.0v right and you've increased it by .1 which it is now 1.1v effective right?

Forget about the 'NB 1.8v Voltage' if it does not exit in your BIOS. :p

I set what you said, but my computer once again refuses to POST. I've restarted and am back in the BIOS.

I really don't want to waste your time bro. I feel that I'm forcing you to walk me through this deathtrap with handcuffs. I would like to achieve 1066, but I also don't want to hold you up.

Yeah, I think I've got my hands tied up on this one. All the instructions were very carefully calculated but I've failed. Only thing left to do know is set all the changed settings back to defaults and leave the ram voltage at 2.2v and ram frequency at 800.

Sorry dude, I feel I've wasted you time not to mention had your hopes up.

On the brighter side of things, there's still free dinner this coming Wednesday. :p

Quick update Nemix, I went back into the BIOS and manually set all the timings, voltages, and also set it to unganged mode. I was actually able to get into Windows, but I got a BSOD. I'll keep playing around with it until I lose my patience. :D

Here are a some plug and play options for you if you still want to play with the setting, I've lowered my standards and lowered your memory speed overclock:

DDR2-933
Ram Voltage = 2.3v
FSB Frequency = 232
DRAM Frequency = 800
CPU Ratio = 10.5x
HT Link Speed = 1.6Ghz
CPU/NB Frequency = 1600Mhz
CPU/NB Voltage = Add 0.8v
CPU Voltage = Add 0.Xv (Add the smallest increment you can add)
Memory Timings = 5-5-5-15 (Just set the first 4, leave the rest)
Memory Mode = Gagged (For Single Channel)

DDR2-900
Ram Voltage = 2.3v
FSB Frequency = 225
DRAM Frequency = 800
CPU Ratio = 11x
HT Link Speed = 1.6Ghz
CPU/NB Frequency = 1600Mhz
CPU/NB Voltage = Add 0.8v
CPU Voltage = Add 0.Xv (Add the smallest increment you can add)
Memory Timings = 5-5-5-15 (Just set the first 4, leave the rest)
Memory Mode = Gagged (For Single Channel)

DDR2-966
Ram Voltage = 2.3v
FSB Frequency = 241
DRAM Frequency = 800
CPU Ratio = 10x
HT Link Speed = 1.6Ghz
CPU/NB Frequency = 1600Mhz
CPU/NB Voltage = Add 0.8v
CPU Voltage = Add 0.Xv (Add the smallest increment you can add)
Memory Timings = 5-5-5-15 (Just set the first 4, leave the rest)
Memory Mode = Gagged (For Single Channel)

If you happen to be successor with any of the above settings please post up some screen shot of CPU-Z for further investigation. Good Luck! :p

Quick question, will these settings apply to just that DIMM slot or all slots? Also, when adding RAM, should I add it backwards from slot three to slot one? It's not dual channel memory, so I can just plug them in any slot right?

Usually the settings apply to all the dimm slots.

Are you getting the exact same ram, size, make and model?

It's recommended you get the same speed ram DDR2-1066, if it's not the same size e.g. 1 x 2GB then it'll automatically run in single channel. If it's the same size but different brand and model chances are it'll try to run in dual channel, this is assuming you get the same speed DDR2-1066 ram.

Dimm slot 3 (next tot furthest dimm slot you now have your ram in) is the best regarless. You can set the DDR Ungagged Mode = Auto, this way if it's dual channel as detected by the BIOS it'll run in Ungagged Mode and Gagged Mode for Single Channel. :p
