Solved Laptop BSOD when opening lid after sleep mode Error 0x0000009f

I'd appreciate any help you can offer. It's an HP G62-435DX, about six to eight months old. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM, and I have not reinstalled the OS since purchase.

The system is set to go into sleep mode when I shut the lid. It's worked fine up until the last four or five weeks. Now when open the lid, I get a black screen. System lights all appear to still be functioning. I usually just hold the power button in till it shuts down, then restart and everything is okay again. Tonight I let it sit at the black screen a while and after about 8-10 minutes it finally gave me the bsod, which I hadn't seen before since I usually just restart.

These crashes were related to appliand.sys helper driver from Applian Technologies Inc.

The DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE bug check has a value of 0x0000009F. This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

Suggest you either update or remove the driver to test...
