Hi, I have a 2011 Pavilion DV7-6c00TX uses a dual/switchable graphic mode setup : integrated is Intel 3000 HD, and dedicated is 2gb DDR5 AMD Whistler XT. It has semi-UEFI integration.

If leave the laptop idle for about 15-30 mins, it dims. I'm not sure if monitor shuts off after any longer.
But Here are actions i have taken since setup :-
***
I have the perfect, latest precise oem Graphical driver (2-in-1) installed. I am convinced this is the most applicable driver for this oem-unique legacy switchable system. not last catalyst, not crimson beta.
***
At BIOS, my Display Mode is set to DYNAMIC.
***
I have already specificied my own custom high performance power scheme, where
i. the screen should never dim
ii. the monitor never shuts off
iii. screensaver set to paused
iv. laptop never sleeps
v laptop never hibernates
vi. laptop disks never turn off
vii. ATI (AMD) Powerplay is set to MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE (under power options)
***
At Intel Display Control Center, settings as set to MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE.
***
At Catalyst Control Center, Power Play is DISABLED.
***
Other Stuff around Windows : Screensaver set to 'none' true off/disabled.
Only Clean Windows installed at the moment in this test system. No App Software introduced yet.

BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENING. My screen dims after about 15-30 mins. Appreciate experienced users with specific knowledge of this common issue to give advice. Have also made a query of this at HP site.

Regards.

Hi,

I take it those are the MS options, whats on the HP Pavillions power options??
Depending on the comps set-up the HP's will/can override the MS ones

hi torch thx for reply. but what did u mean by HP's options, and where would those options be? u mean as in inside BIOS? no this system has most options in BIOS already quite locked down by UEFI, there is no HP power option i am aware of.

the exact model is dv7-6c00TX.

graphical mode may however be linked to power, and i have that option in BIOS at either DYNAMIC or FIXED. I have not changed from DYNAMIC atm.

i have switched AMD's PowerPlay OFF.

under windows, my power plans are almost always set in a particular way, dogma my contemporaries call the 'Kurgan Switch'; it's better to burn out, than to fade away :-
