Solved laptop freezes after closing it

when i close my windows 7 ultimate x64 laptop. And come back to it, it will freeze when i open it back up (i have to do a manual shutdown) i have tried going into the settings and setting the hard drive shutdown to never, but nothing works. Any help is appreciated

yeah i know, i got this laptop for cheap and have been trying to bring it up to speed. ive restored many computers before, but not too many x64 models

I think i fixed it!

i set the network device to have the ability to boot computer, and did a power options automated troubleshoot. and it seems to work fine
