EDIT: the problem has returned and the previous solution doesn't work anymore. Uploading new .ZIP file in OP and last reply.

Hello,

I have been searching the Internet a bit to find a solution to this issue. Mostly this has been linked to specific programs (like iTunes), which I don't have. Someone said it might be BSOD so I did the procedure.

Basically, my laptop doesn't go to Sleep, but instead freezes. This happens when closing the lid, pressing the "power" button or doing manual Sleep from Start menu. The screen goes black, but won't "wake up" anymore - the only way out is a forced shutdown and restart.
If the laptop is in this freezed state long enough it will shut itself down automatically.
The machine is 2 months old with pre-installed Windows.

Welcome to SevenForums

Your problems were caused by the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5000 Series Adapter Driver
Update it using the Intel update utility or find a newer version from your laptop manufacturer's website
Intel® Driver Update Utility

Revert back to an older version if the newer ones still cause BSODs

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm still trying to properly install the drivers. Not sure what might be causing this, but the driver install never ends.

Okay, right as I was typing this, updating the driver software via Device Manager failed, giving me an error message.
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 130
This operation returned because the timeout period expired."

Edit: for clarification. The Driver Update Utility gave me similar results. Technically, it shows the latest 15.1.1 drivers are installed, but I doubt this is the case as I closed the install with Task Manager after it had been doing nothing for 15-20 minutes. Every time I clicked the icon on taskbar it prompted me with the "Will you allow changes to be made to your computer" window. Incidentally, Windows seems to be unable to shut down now (for restarting purposes), showing the "Shutting down..." screen indefinitely.
It finally BSOD'd, reading DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

You may try this:
Boot into Safe Mode with Networking, uninstall the driver, reboot and reinstall the driver.

The same problem has returned and the previous solution of reinstalling new drivers doesn't work. It's not my laptop, so I can't say what exactly happened, but supposedly something went wrong when trying to connect to a WiFi network.

Bumping with a little more information.

Basically, the laptop doesn't have any problems as long as it's not connected to the Internet. I'm assuming this is simply because the drivers aren't "at work" without an ongoing Internet connection. Not sure if this matters, but the laptop also has problems with sustaining a connection. Apparently, at some random points, the Internet connection just disappears - thought the router connection remains, it shows the yellow exclamation mark and says "no Internet access". This shouldn't be a router issue as another PC that is using a WiFi stick doesn't have this problem. And while the "no Internet access" persists, the laptop goes in and out of Sleep as normal.

The networking driver is the cause here, try rolling back to a previous version/last working version.

The networking driver is the cause here, try rolling back to a previous version/last working version.

Following results:

15.2.0 - the newest version I found; didn't connect to the network
15.1.1 - the version I had until now
14.3.1 - connected to Internet
14.0.0 - oldest version I found; didn't connect

All still had BSOD. Don't know if it matters, but with each version, Device Manager still reported 15.2.0 as the installed drivers.
Some drivers also refused to install/uninstall without Safe Mode.

Oh and I did download all drivers clean without software, does it matter?

Are those the default Intel Drivers or the custom drivers obtained from your laptop's maunfacturer website? The fact that some don't install could indicate a compatibility problem with the WiFi network hardware itself.
Oh and I did download all drivers clean without software, does it matter?
It shouldn't unless some specific software packages are needed, I guess you installed the drivers directly selecting the .inf files using the device manager. You may need to download & install the complete software package which includes all the required setup files/features.
