I'm trying to help a friend who brought over his laptop, every boot up it goes to a blue screen saying
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is
identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check
with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video
adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable
BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need
to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your
computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then
select Safe Mode.
Technical Information:
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x000000FF, 0x8AAF482c, 0x00000000)
I tried googling the code at the end but nothing shows up, any suggestions on what could be done?
Thanks
Edit~ got a Windows error recovery to come up before a blue screen gave me a option of launch startup repair and launch normally, repair eventually leads to trying to do a system restore but it says it failed and normally brings me to a new blue screen
