Laptop going to sleep instead of shutting down.

Hello all,

Any ideas why this is happening? I am unable to shutdown the laptop. Its a Dell laptop running Windows 7 64BIT.

Are you shutting down with the power button?
If so you can change how the power button behaves in the control panel under power options.

Thanks for the reply. I'm shutting down using the button (Start Menu > Shut Down). I've also noticed that when I restart the laptop shuts down and then powers on. Anything else I can try?

Make sure Power button action is set to Shutdown.
