Sounds like you'd do much better getting a desktop gaming unit... much more bang for the buck... Just remember the old adage ... The difference between the men and the boys ...

Good Luck...

Hi and welcome to seven forums

Im assuming you're willing to trade a ton of horsepower to get a laptop. You are really restricted on video, audio, HD, heat, etc. For 1500 you probably gonna end up with something like a dell XPS. Not a bad lapbrick but for the same 1500 you could get a pretty good desktop. BTW Im using a dell laptop right now

Yeah I know they are incredibly handy for schooland work, etc. You want a lappy that will run 64bit, as much memory as you can afford, at least a dual core 2 processer. A good video card and 5.1 audio. you can change HD later and you can add memory later.

Hope this helps

Over the years i've bought 6 or so Dell Laptops and had no complaints. You can chose your features and price and get what you need. I currently have a M4400 but is a bit over your budget.

Good Hunting

Look at the Dell Precision M4200. Starts at about 1100.00. go to the Small Business section of dell.com. with a few minor add-ons you can keep it to your budget. Just make a list of your must have features and go look at them. when you got your selection then shop for price.
