Laptop only boots in safe mode - sfc can't repair all files

My Win7 laptop only boots in safe mode (safe networking also works) but not in normal mode. It shuts down right after logging into normal mode. I ran sfc scannow thrice and it says that it found corrupt files but was not able to fix some of them. I can't upload the CBS log file due to size limitations (it's 7MB).
What should I try next?
Thanks.

I'm a little confused by this:
You can only do a repair install from within Windows 7.
You cannot do a repair install at boot or in Safe Mode.

I'm unable to boot into Win 7 and can only boot into safe mode. SFC found 3 corrupted files that it can't repair. In that case, how do I do the repair install? Thanks.

What happens exactly if you try to boot normally?

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html works fine? Don't forget to do step THREE afterwards! "Return Windows to a Normal Startup Mode"

If I try to boot normally, it just reboots within 5-10 seconds of booting up.

Did you perform "system restore" to a date/time prior to "last succesfull normal boot"?

Sure computer crashes AFTER logon? So if you don't logon and wait about 5 minutes the problem doesn't occur?

Yes, I performed system restore to the earliest possible point but it still failed.
to your question about when it reboots - yes, it only crashes after I login and enter the password. If I let it sit at the login prompt, it stays there and doesn't reboot.
I will disable the auto restart next..thanks.

Create a new user ... "test" for example. Logon as "test". Same problem?
You can remove user "test" later.

I created a new user account and while logging into that account, I get an error: unregmp2.exe: unable to start appication. Error 0xc000007b. Click Ok to close the application. I clicked ok, it happened again, I clicked ok and logged into the test account but get the same problem - it also reboots.

How come you get this error message all of a sudden?
Sorry... but that unregmp2.exe error is the only error you get on user "test"?
Both accounts act the same?

unregmp2 is something of windows media player. I think after user "test" logs on the windows media player gets initialised.... which failed.

Did you do #7 already? What BSOD do you get?
Did you try "clean startup"?

I only get the unregmp2 error with the test login...not with the regular login. I should've been more clear but with the test login, I get the unregmp2 error + reboot as soon as I login; with the regular login, I get the reboot after logging in.

Step 7 - disable auto restart doesn't work...it still restarts and doesn't give a BSOD.

I did the clean restart step 1. It looks like I can login normally now. The problem is that as soon as I either press any key (on the laptop's keyboard, not an external one) or move my finger over the trackpad mouse, it reboots - so any interrupt of any sort is causing it to reboot. I can try to do step 2 - isolate a specific program - but not sure which direction to go. It seems like selective startup is sort-of preventing the problem but only until I move the mouse/press a key. Thoughts?

Thanks for your reply. I don't have the original installation disk (misplaced it) but I used Lenovo's startup repair tool and it didn't fix the problem.
