So, I had Windows 7 running great on my Dell XPS M1530 Notebook, until I turned it on this morning before work and left it on. Apparently while I was gone, it went into sleep or hibernate, and then, when I turned it on last night nothing came up on my display or my second monitor. The computer acted just as if it was booting up normally, but nothing ever showed up on the LCD. I waited over an hour, thinking it may just be having a hard time recover from hibernate, but nothing happened. I then had to just reset using the power button to retry. I did that several times with the same results. Then I unplugged it and just let the charge run out, hoping it would work this morning, but same deal. Anybody had the same problem?

can you unplug it, and pull the battery and press the power button a few time, then plug the battery in and try power it on.

I also have Dell M1530. My laptop sometimes doesn't sleep when I shut lid. It just goes all black screen but it's still on using power.

Have you got the latest BIOS? I do it's the A12. Plus what version on W7 are u using?

64 bit, build 7100. It was a clean install.

Yes, I installed this bios: Drivers and Downloads

when I installed the latest drivers for my nVidia graphics card.

It could be a hardware problem, because you said it worked perfect before for a while right? Did you know that all Dell M1530 have a hardware fault with the Nvidia Geforce 8400/8600 Graphics card? Maybe this is your peoblem. Dell have even given an extra 1 years warranty to every M1530 sold. So just phone them up to see. :)

I had my motherboard and graphics card replaced march this year because of it.

Of course it might just be windows 7 problem, you may have to try to reinstall it.

Hmm..didn't know that. Do you know what the XPS Technical Support Number is? I can't seem to find it online or the pamphlet that came with it.

I had that problem in the Windows 7 Beta, with my computer.
As soon as I installed W7 RC7100 and the Nvidea updates the hybernate-mode was fixed.

I have 7100 and the updates too...gah maybe I should call Dell, does anyone have the special XPS support number to see if maybe it is the warranty?

Build 7600 is the only that solves the hibernation issue for me. I think it may be related to gigabyte boards or something on gigabyte boards since it has happened on 3 different motherboards i have used build systems for other people. I am about to build another one tonight for someone else on another GB board..I shall see what happens.

The only way to resolve it in the past was to set the pc to high performance in power options, otherwise every time it would sleep i would have to unplug the power cable to get my video signal back.

Ummm, this is in reference to a Dell laptop.

@marchmadness - more than likely the Graphics card overheated b/c it was on and *didn't* go into sleep fast enough. As for warranty info, check on the website for numbers....

Had the same problem on Dell xps1530 with Win7 pro 64bit. Laptop has the power button, and special button called "dell media direct" button which ment to start in some alternative boot mode(ref dell for details). Computer sucsessfuly woke from mentioned above hybernation after few attempts pressing it. It went to Initial dell media direct instalation screen, which later alowed full system wake up.
Provided dell media direct is of correct version and still exists on hdd, is operational, button not remapped to other app, there is chance of easy recovery.
Unfortunetly still looking for the way to wake up system from hybernation when dell media centre is not present.
Cd was accepted, but not ejected-stuck (cant boot from it - bios option - cd not bootable), same with usb, lan.
System reboot by pressing power button for 10s - no luck.
Lid close/open, ram replacement (as some suggest in different post) no luck.
ANY SUGESSTIONS WELCOME. Thanks.
