Desktops. I like my PC tower to be fairly big (i.e. a full tower). Although, I do have a gaming laptop too for when I don't have access to my desktop. The desktop is easier to self-service, and way easier to keep from overheating.

When my XP computer needed replacement I really wanted to move to a laptop but even though I had an idea of what I would need to do to wirelessly connect it I didn't want to make the changes at that time. So I bought another desktop (which six months later was already being blown away by what they were then selling).

I do think I will add a laptop eventually. I look at the adverts every week and there are some good deals (i3 for less than $400 USD). When Win 8 comes out maybe Win 7 lappys will be even cheaper.

If I absolutely had to pick 1 or the other, it would be a desktop without question. I need it for gaming, expandability and ability to service all of the parts myself. However, I'd be very unhappy without my laptop...which is what I use for 95% of my web surfing and posts here at this very forum.

Windows and Linux enthusiast. Logitech G35 Headset.
I'd say powerful lappy. mine I do almost everything with it. photoshop, surf, skype or call with my girl( which is obviously I cant have with the desktop. that would be the main reason I love my G6.) and love desktop for the larger screen for play games and work. but yet I just plug my notebook to 42" LED tv for watching movies and using that and if I thought to have a loud sound with gaming on notebook, I hook up to both TV and 7.1 surround system which gives me rumbling sound while firing heavy arms in crysis :D
but yet desktops are powerful. but if you have a notebook that can do everything you want, you'll love it. and of course I cant bring my desktop to my bed :D

and this may off the topic, but more than my desktop and lappy, I love my galaxy SII which I cant live a day without it.:)

I think you should add smartphone too, cuz I think young ones like me prefer our phone more than desktop and laptop.

My go to PC is my desktop. It's more powerful than my old laptop and has dual monitors. I can get more done, in a shorter time on it. My desktop is also my gaming machine. My wife uses the laptop everyday. She curses the touch pad, but other than that she is quit happy with it. About all she does is Facebook though. Once the weather gets nice though I can see me using the laptop a little more just for casual web browsing. It will be nice to take it outside and relax in the evenings. My step daughter has a little HP netbook that she loves. I think to her its just a little bigger version of her smart phone. Social networking is about all she ever does on it. I voted desktop.

I have 1 desktop..Windows XP
I have 1 laptop Windows 7

I have 2 tablets.
1 - Toshiba Thrive 10" Android..I really enjoy this .. great in the den when I'm in my relciner after a long day.

I have 1 Nextbook Tablet. 8" Android
I'm really loving this thing.. easy to take with me in my handbag.
Both tablets are WI-FI or use a power cord... both have quite long battery use ...6 plus to over 8 hrs.
depends on what I'm doing how long the battery functions.
I use my trusty old Gateway XP almost all the time for my heavy work ( daily )
