Usually those with crossfire systems will generally notice problems, those with single cards not so much. I've never really had any problems with catalyst drivers but i've only had single card setups.

Generally if it's buggy is shows right away.

It showed for me

Over the top 10.10e installation, it disabled Crossfire.

Re-ran the installation, it black screened forcing a reset. Crossfire is back, but the Install manager is not in the unistall programs list. Great...

The flickering multi monitor bug is back and I have the 'mouse lag' issue in the top right of screens.


With my setup it's a case of 'so far, so fail'.

@ smarteyeball sorry to hear about the issues. BTW I don't have the mouse in the corner issue but there are plenty of complaints about it over at rage. One poster evern posted a video of it there - Rage3D Discussion Area - View Single Post - Catalyst 11.2

My Radeon HD 4650 seems to have responded well to the update for the most part. I'm really happy they added hardware acceleration support for WMV/VC-1 Content finally with the 11.x series of drivers. Only downside I see since the 10.x drivers, which I had before was that I can no longer overclock my video card as it seems to cause performance issues. Oh well, no big deal as I don't use it for gaming anyway.

Also installed this driver with my new Radeon HD 3870 at home and 11.2 works very well.

Thanks mate. The 5970 has been nothing but a bloody headache when it's come to drivers

I saw that thread over at Rage.

I did the driver sweeper routine which seemed to fix the mouse issue, but it made the multi monitor flickering worse and my user created presets ceased working completely. In the end I've had to go back to 10.10e.

It's a pity because 11.2 fixed a few niggling issues for some games.

I think that the 11 series (including 10.12) are crap.

I have had several BSODs with these drivers and 5870.

I went to Von mod 10.10E and they work like a charm. No more BSODs.

ATI reminds me of Acronis. The more bloat ware the more problems.

I know it doesn't help but it's running fine on my setup. Not sure what to say except do some basic troubleshooting. Try no OCing, update bios, maybe it's the graphics card. Or it just could be drivers aren't met for every PC setup out there.

Or they could actually be buggy on some setups, especially crossfire setups.

Anyway I have no problem with them myself, but than I've never had a problem with any cat drivers since I don't run a crossfire setup.

11.2's CCC refused to open for me until I told it to run as administrator. So if anyone else has the same problem, try doing that.

Sorry but if you have to do that you either don't have full privileges or aren't the owner of the machine. In short there's no reason to run CCC in Administrator mode unless there is a security issue. You might want to check your user profile.

As for AMD fuel I don't have that one and have no idea what it is - It may be for AMD motherboards but that's just a guess in the dark. Anyway this is what I have installed. Even though I don't do video transcoding I install it anyway.

sygnus, only user of the machine, user profile is Administrator. CCC wouldn't open without run as admin checked. It'd load up in the background, use an entire core for about 15 seconds, then shut down without having displayed anything. Run as Admin, loads just fine.

If that's the only you can get it to work for you than that's that. I'm just saying it shouldn't have to be run in Admin mode. You can go here and ask around and they will tell you the samething - CATALYST Drivers - Rage3D Discussion Area

It's not CCC that has the problem, it's 7's security feature that's saying you have to run it in Admin mode. Why? I don't know. Sometimes 7's security can do some strange things at times, I've experienced them myself

I don't even know what "values' i'm supposed to choose in the darn boxes they ask for.

HP support just sent me to the same link that the OP posted. I'm still confused as to the difference between the two packages. There are two packages.

The first one being 95.3 mb and the second being 74mb without an app.

What's the app? Is it the opencl driver? And what is an opencl driver? I don't know this stuff.

I installed the second one without the app (whatever that actually means) but am wondering if I did it right. Should I have installed the first one instead.

Also, Can I delete this ATI folder that is now left in the C:\ directory?

AND, The driver installed itself to C:\ program files. Is that the right directory? I figured that it would be in the system files somewhere instead of program files.

Actually, I have two folders in program files. One is ATI and the other is ATI TECHNOLOGIES with some "fuel" something or other stuff in it and reservation manager. Also something that I have no idea why it's there or what it does.

I don't have a clue when it comes to drivers folks so please bear with my shortcomings on the topic.

Catalyst Software Suite with APP removed (64 bit) English Only74 MB11.2 is what I installed.

OpenCL is a program language that can be used to have a program use the GPU (graphics card) to do tasks the CPU normally does. Normally the GPU is just used to display the graphic on the monitor and the CPU does all the rest. OpenCL lets the GPU act like a second CPU within those specific programs. If you want to add it to your system click on the Individual Downloads tab and download and install. When installed it is labeled ATI Stream.
The ATI folder in the C:\ drive is all the files used to install the package and I don't know if is used for uninstalled or repairs so I just leave it alone.
Under Program Files the ATI folder is where the Catalyst Install Manager resides and the CIM is used to install or uninstall the various programs within the package.
The ATI Technologies is where the files for CCC (Catalyst Control Center) are stored. The CCC is used to change settings on the graphics card.
There are two optional programs under the Optional Downloads tab.
HydraVision I believe is used if you have 2 or more monitors but not positive.
AMD Media Codec Package lets you use the GPU as a video converter which is normally done by the CPU. Labeled Avivo when installed.
