Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers Windows 7

I prefer if my computer and/or GPU manufacturer supplied me the drivers lol.
I have a laptop and a desktop that requires me to download from the vendor.
If you download nVidia drivers, you are more than likely to cause more damage to your computer than anything else, because it's likely to either over heat / not your support your PC if your fan doesn't support the driver's clocking.
I have had so many problems with universal drivers in the past, losing two laptops due to the 8800 G and 9800 GTX over heating.
Treat my advice wisely

That is natural for laptops, because the mobile video cards are sometimes OEM specific, and it takes a bit of playing around to even get the standard drivers to work on those machines....

Hello. I am a new member. Using the search feature I could not find a solution to my problem.

I just installed Windows 7 on a spare partition. It will be a part time OS. However I would like to enjoy all the features.

I have installed a GeForce 6200 512MB AGP 8X GPU. This allowed me to play some games, and have a good aero experience. However it does not allow me to do the same in Windows 7. It keeps installing a driver, only to not have it start the device. I am getting video output on it. I am using both the DVI and VGA ports for dual monitors.

Any solutions? I have tried 3 drivers so far and none work. Windows 7 recognizes it, and just leaves it at that. Even after an update.

Hi, JerzeyLegend, and welcome to the forums.

I suspect that hte card may be a bit too old for W7 - does anything get installed when you go to Windows Update?

If so, another member has published a post stating that you can use DriverMax to backup your drivers from Vista and then install them (restore them) in W7....

However, I suspect that this will not solve your issues either....

I am willing to try. I just thought that because it works in Vista Ultimate that it would work here. My father-in-law just installed it on his Dell with intergrated Intel and he has all the features. I also noticed that he had more pictures and wallpapers than I did. I don't have any sample pics, music, or videos or anything for that matter. I have my Vista wallpapers. Anyway, I will try this DriverMax. I would really like Aero on 7. Would look really good with the unlocked taskbar.

just installed 180.84 driver and its no different for me than 180.48 in performance.

That driver is supposed to be specifically for GTA IV ....

i cant say ive seen any real boost since installing them, they do run very well, & they come highly recommended too....

''true'', they do optimize GTA 4, but they're not ''specifically'' for it....

All vista cards work with 7, if they don't by default, run their setup in compatibility mode for vista.

I am reverting to the WU drivers for W7 - as you can see from my WEI post http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/342-show-us-your-wei-5.html#post6349 my Gaming video score went down - and this is after installing 180.48 *and* enabling SLI - so I am going to disable SLI and see if it makes a difference, and if it does not then I am going to revert to the WU drivers for build 6801....

though i never refreshed my WEI, it may improve it, but its an old driver....

Yeah, I know - and if you look at the scores, the first one is from the older drive and the second one is from the newer driver - and I dropped by .7 on my gaming score.

Of course, I am going to test and see if it is SLI causing the problem first - that might be it to begin with....

I got the same WEI score with the default W7 7000 video drivers and with the 180.84 beta NVIDIA Vista drivers. No difference.

I am running the 181.00 drivers, and I'll let ya know as soon as I get this puppy installed as to the WEI - first install goes into the VBox though to make sure the ISO isn't corrupted....
