Latest Version of Comodo Firewall Released

You're gonna love v2011 when it is released (some features not fully enabled until the final, such as ipv6) in Beta. In my opinion, it blows v4.x away.

I have heard the same thing that Comodo v5 Final will be out on 9-14-2010. I've also been using Comodo since V3, but just the Firewall Pro and Proactive Defense+ HIPS because I run my browser in Sandboxie and so far both my Vista x86 and Win7 x64 computers remain completely infection free!

I'm still contemplating the possibility of using the entire CIS v5 suite which would include the Comodo Sandbox in addition to Cloud scanning and Behavior Blocker, but they just seem like high tech ways of telling me what is already isolated inside the virtual space defined by Sandboxie. Oh well, its great to have choices!

COMODO Internet Security 5.0.162636.1135 Released!

Hello Everyone,

We are very excited to announce that COMODO Internet Security 2011, COMODO Antivirus 2011 and COMODO Firewall 2011 have just been released!

What's New In COMODO Internet Security 2011?

THANKS! COMODO would like to thank the beta testers whose feedback made this release possible!
NEW! Extended spyware scanner and improved malware cleaning
NEW! Cloud Based Antivirus Scanning
NEW! Cloud Based Behavior Analysis
NEW! Cloud Based Application White-listing
NEW! Game Mode
IMPROVED! Application Control
IMPROVED! Default Deny re-engineered to improve application compatibility
IMPROVED! Application user interface

Cloud Based Infrastructure:
2011 family of products(Yes COMODO Firewall too!) are now armed with cloud based file rating technologies. The cloud computation, enabled by default, is used for a variety of purposes.(Do not be surprized if COMODO Firewall gives you a malware alert!!!).

With cloud computation;

* Cloud based Whitelisting: Safe files and trusted vendors are now easily identified. The concept of “Trusted Publisher” is now cloud based.
* Cloud based Anti virus: Malicious files are detected even if the users do not have an up-to-date antivirus product or an antivirus product at all.
* Cloud Based Behaviour Analysis: Zero-day malware can be detected INSTANTLY by COMODO’s cloud based behavior analysis system CIMA(Comodo Instant Malware analysis).

I installed Comodo 2011 v5.0.162636.1135 earlier today and the process went quicker than with v3 and v4. I had previously installed v4.1 a few months ago, but there were some problems with the Comodo Sandbox and Sandboxie being allowed to start, but I've noticed none of those problems with v5 but I have noticed that even with all of the newly added features like cloud scanning the software uses even less system resources than previous versions did.

Welcome to the Windows 7 Forums! The screenshot is from a program called Process Explorer by Mark Russinovich. This data and graphics can be generated for any program running on your computer under the performance tab in Process Explorer. It is a portable program so it can also be run from a USB flash drive. I always carry it on my A Data 16 GB dual channel flash drive...

ssakeman- Yes. The Comodo Firewall is not Dependant on definition updates so it will continue to protect you. If you like you can download Comodo Firewall 2011 and select only the Comodo Firewall to be installed on your computer unless you would also like to have the Comodo Defense+ HIPS which got the only 100% score at Matousec and contains optional automatic sandboxing of all unrecognized code.

Which version of the Comodo Firewall do have installed now?

I Must say, the new UI is pretty sweet looking. I also am trying out the anti-virus and I must say it has come a long way in the last 6 months. Over all I am impressed with the new version of comodo.

just a heads up. When updating it obviously carries over your settings from the previous version but yesterday I decided to hit the stealth ports button again. Two things happened, not only did the names of the set rules change in global rules but I started to see more being blocked in events. I'd give the stealth ports wizard a wake up call if you have those set rules or need them.

just a heads up. When updating it obviously carries over your settings from the previous version.

Not so with a recommended clean install although previous fFirewall and Defense+ settings can be imported if upgrading within a similarly numbered version of Comodo.
