I haven't found one antivirus or antispyware program in existance that won't report false positives at times! As far as AVG that's actually been the most reliable over the years. Grisoft was prompt to see that corrected last fall by the way.

The initial upgrade from the 8.0 to 8.5 build on the 7000 saw a crash when 7 was first available there. Once things were situated I've been running the 8.5 since even on the 64bit build.

Going back a bit it was which one now? aww yes Lavasoft's Adware 2007 that removed a driver for the MS optical mouse! seeing that as an invalid item. The "ipoint.exe" file was vulnerable there.

We have a number of folks on the board that have access to the real thing. They can provide the hashes of the isos without uploading the real thing. The admins know who these folks are and can have the hash thread be read-only.

If that is indeed the fact, then a thread concerning the hashes of genuine, untouched Windows 7 builds would be well called for.

You can view the correct hashes by simply going direct to the Technet Plus download page even if greyed out to look those over for those not an MS partner or paid subscriber at Technet Plus or MSDN. With the RC going public early next week it no longer makes any sense rushing to torrent sites and ending up with some malware instead of simply being "patient" enough to wait a few days more!

I'm simply ignoring looking at hashes since the RCs will be coming direct from whoelse but MS! With both x86 and x64 versions seeing things running on 7 that couldn't be installed on Vista I'll be busy loading the RCs up with various programs without risk of some malwares implanted from any torrent sites to begin with.

That was just seen on one 7100 leak while x64 somehow never finished a full download for some reason once the x86 was on. With the general availability of both RCs coming in just a few more days the obvious "best" choice won't need any hash checks!

If the hashes match the offical ones then there is zero risk. I don't see what's hard to understand about that. There is no need to wait.

Understand, this is not about just the RC. Everyone of the interim builds, and we know there will be more after the RC as we move towards RTM will be released, comes from an 'official" beta tesing facility. There are a number of folks on this board that have access to the "real" interim builds. While they may be uncomfortable about releasing the full iso into the wild, they can confirm the hash of that iso. If a perpetual thread is maintained for these interim builds, anyone who downloads a torrent can verify their hash to this thread.

Everyone likes to point out that the hashes were provided, put the threads regarding releases can reach upto 100 pages. Why not have a single point for readers to access and check?

Well at the moment I'm at the 90% mark in less then an hour for a look at what appears to be a second RC x86 from the same site then bugged one seen earlier a closer look at the two once the torrent is finished will show if iether is genuine by a simple cross check. That will be against the actual MS download page seen at Technet.

Correction 100% in 45minutes with the x64 to follow soon.
