Lexmark drivers

Hey everyone, I have a Lexmark P3150 Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and was wondering if anyone knew what I could do to get it working properly? I can't seem to find any drivers and most places I check just either give me the run-around or make me lose hope lol...

Can anyone please help?

Lexmark dropped support for this model at XP..
they do not intend to create a newer driver..

you could try via the Virtual XP mode in Windows7 - but IMO, it's just too fussy to even contemplate..

it's a shame because the p3150 was a great piece of hardware, but it seems Lexmark just want us to buy a later model..!!

I have a Lexmark P4350 and am running windows 7 home premium.

I have downloaded the vista drivers.

I tried the "run as vista" suggestion from earlier.

I step through the installation wizard, and get to the bit with the progress bar(s). The progress bar(s) appear to go to the end and then the installation wizard dissapears without even an "Installation complete" message.

There is the appropriate shortcut in the start menu, but the executable it points to is not there. So it seems that the installation failed without completing properly.

I have a Lexmark X2350 All in one and I too seem to be going round in circles looking for a driver. This worked fine on my old PC with Windows xp. I guess it is too old to work with Windows 7 ? or can anyone point me in the right direction please.

I have a Lexmark E232 which I had XP drivers for.
Lexmark driver support is poor so with Win 7 64 bit I just plugged in the printer and MS did the rest. A driver was automatically downloaded and I've been using the printer without problems for 6 months.
I think it is a basic generic Lexmark driver (V3.1, 2008).

Here's how I got my Lexmark printer to work in Windows 7:

I have a X2470, but hopefully this will work for others as well.

1. Download the Vista drivers for your printer. For me it was cjr2400EN.exe

2. Do NOT click on the file to execute it! Instead, right click it and unzip to another folder (mine was named cjr2400EN).

3. In that folder, find Setup.exe. Right click on that file.

3. In Properties, select Compatibility.

4. Select Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows Vista

5. At the bottom, check Run this program as an administrator.

6. Click Apply and ok.

7. Then, click on the setup file as you normally would to install. From that point on my install was normal and the printer seems to work fine.

Hope this helps!

I have a X7170 and used the directions above to install on my Dell XPS 1645 with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and it works perfectly.

This is for a dell A920, 940, 960 that is also a Lexmark model. ftp://ftp1.dell.com/Printer/R56532.EXE I know for sure it works with the A940 as I have it working with my wife's 32 bit version of windows 7. I run the 64 bit on mine but have not tried the printer with 64 bit.
This does work for windows 7. There are many Dell printers that have access for downloads for Lexmark printers. You might all have to do a trial and error to see if any of the printer drivers and applications will work for your particular printers. With out having the printer connected there is no way I can tell you what works besides the one I have listed above. If you recall the early days of vista then you can understand that you have to simply try each one and see what works. Just go the extension before the R56532.exe and download each driver file then try it. There are tons of them there and perhaps one will work for you. I know it will take some work and you will get frustrated but this is a good place to look or just go out and buy a new printer that is computable with windows 7 drivers.

What about with Lexmark z815 printer?

I just upgraded to a W7 laptop. We have an X5470 on another computer. I accessed it from Vista with no problem, but W7 is proving to be more of a challenge.

I finally found a W7 x64 driver on the Lexmark site HERE. Downloaded it, and the driver itself seemed to install OK. Then it wanted to know the location of the printer on the networked computer -- and it couldn't reach that computer. I can ping that computer, and the printer is turned on, but the driver installer couldn't contact it, and that stopped the install cold.

I finally aborted the installer, hoping it had already installed the driver. But I still can't choose that printer (because of no driver). I assume the "xp compatibility" trick isn't going to help any, since the problem involves communicating with the remote system. I don't know what to do next. Help?

I have a Lexmark X7675 all-in-one. I wanted to print from my work laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. I went to http://support.lexmark.com and found the driver, but didn't notice it was for Windows 7 32-bit. I ran the wireless setup utility, which requires the printer to be plugged into the USB. But every time I plugged it into the USB port, I got an error message that the device failed to install.

After about two hours of frustration, I went back to the Lexmark site and this time, noticed that it defaulted to Windows 7 (32-bit). I clicked on the “change OS” link, navigated to Windows 7 (64-bit). That downloaded a different file. When I ran that setup, it connected wirelessly, without needed a cable. Nice.

I hope this is helpful to someone.

goddamn it. i'm having the same problem installing a lexmark x6570 on a win7 32bit machine.
the install software shows no errors, but windows tells me the "lexmark series x6500" driver was not (the others, like the fax, usb drive, sd card reader, etc. install fine). can't print nor scan, the scanning just hangs the lexmark productivity suite.
tried uninstalling and removing all references from the registry, then installing in vista compatibility mode and admin privileges. same crap.
the weird thing is that the windows troubleshooter direct-links me to an ever so slightly different package from lexmark's original, but the version is the same and so are most of the files. both installers ahve the exact same issue, though.

i'll give it one last shot, and try to manually delete rogue driver files if anyone can tell me where the hell to find them. is there anywhere else i should look other than system32 and system32\driverstore ?

If you can tell me the names of the files, I'll tell you where they are on my machine, for what it's worth. It may be different, however, since I'm running 64-bit, and you're running 32-bit.

Weeeell, if i knew which files are causing the conflict...
Chinakat stated that deleting some of them fixed his problem, but i'm not sure which and where they are, since i'm still not used to troubleshooting drivers in win7 as opposed to xp.

now, if i go to the printer hardware properties, i can see that the "lexmark 6500 series" device has no driver installed (actually there are 2 with the same name, one is the scanner and has a default lexmark driver installed dated 21/08/2006, the other one which i assume is the printer is blanked).
when i use the "update driver" button, and i point it to the lexmark driver folder (unzipped during the official package install) it shows the correct driver, version 1.0.5.1 (if i remember correctly). However, install fails with a "file not found error"
a driver is not found when searching for it in the windows folder (drat, that worked on xp when a shitty installer copied the driver but didn't actually register it properly). naturally windows update can't help either. and the windows compatibility site just links me to the same supposedly compatible driver package.

that's so freaking annoying. Lexmark used to be a leading brand a decade ago, i swear i printed over 8,000 pages on a trusty laser printer that survived 3 years in military outposts with just one service (a small plastic wheel broke off, and some oil was required). the only issue i ever had with it was that the feeder sometime had problems dividing papers (though with all the dust and humidity, that's understandable). I used it on win98SE, win2k, winxp - no problems ever.
now that new over-complicated all-in-one POS can't even install properly.

OMFG!
i can't believe it was a LOCALE issue!
that has got to be the worst User Experience design i've ever seen (and that's my job, so i've seen quite a few).
if you go to the local (hebrew) Lexmark site, there's a menu item for drivers - but there are no drivers there. only associated software like their toolbar.so you go to "support " where you are sent to the US site, where the driver offered is the regular English one. there's a filter by language button that doesn't work all the time (wtf?) and wouldn't even show hebrew as an option. since all the other drivers on this system work just fine in English - the "hebrew locale" of win7 is an english-hybrid anyway - i've never even suspected it could be an issue - even microsoft themselves linked me to an english version of these drivers.
after noticing a small flag icon on top of the support page, i pressed it and chose Israel, and was greeted by a rather crappy hebrew translated version of the site (really bad RtL-LtR alignment), where i was actually able to download a hebrew version of this driver.

well, long story short, it works.
well, the "lexmark solution center" for configuring the printer crashes all the time (though sometimes it works), but it prints!!!

thanks guys.
