Hi everyone,

Apologies for posting again, but I've tried everything to sort this, but to no avail!

My desktop with Win 7 Prof lets me see a Library with all my photos (in my Pictures folder), all neatly laid out in order of Date Taken.

My new laptop simply says New Library when I click Windows Explorer and it appears empty.

However, it tells me that MY PICTURES are already in a Library, but I simply can't find it and view all my pics.

Additionally, there doesn't seem to be a DATE TAKEN option visible (although I have seen it somewhere!), instead it's DATE MODIFIED or something similar.

Can anyone help, please?

You really are a genius, Danny!

Not 2 minutes ago, I deleted that Dell app you suggested last night and bingo, Capslock working perfectly!

The only (and worst) problem I still have to overcome is getting Windows Media Player to display my AVCHD video clips with a thumbnail instead of a generic icon!!!

Don't suppose you have any thoughts?

Don't thank me Its the guys here that make the excellent tutorials:D.

As for the media player that's not really my area.Does Media Player by default play those files or did you have to add some codecs. All I could add is to try and associate the file extension with media player see if that brings up the thumbnails - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9154-default-programs-associate-file-type-protocol.html

Yes, it plays them by default.

I've spent all morning on here researching it and all I can come up with is perhaps a connection to a Nero prog that was on initially and remnants of which still remain somewhere in the prog files, notwithstanding the fact that there's no sign of it in the delete prog section of control panel.

I'm stumped: total nightmare not knowing what any of the videos are, now, until I click and play them!

Danny, I did that and files are already associated with Win Media Player by default: it plays them just fine; it just won't let me see a thumbnail of the clip, only the generic icon.

If it helps, they are .MTS files.

If your saying Nero hasn't un-installed correctly best bet is to reinstall and then run the un-installer again,or use Revo Uninstaller to help remove all remnants of the program. If you use the aggressive mode back up the registry first.

Dell don't provide the media, Danny and the second suggestion fills me with dread!

Incidentally, even Adobe Bridge displays only the generic icon and not the thumbnails.

Bugger!!

Like I said this isn't my area. Googling about says that they should show by default so I would say its an association issue or clashing codecs but that's me just guessing.
You could try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html but that's about all I've got for you mate.
Sorry
