Lifespan of USB flash drives?

I want to buy a dedicated flash drive just to store the Vaio Recovery Media in case I need to reinstall Windows in the future. Will leaving a flash drive stored somewhere for a long time untouched kill it in anyway? Where is the best place to store the flash drive?

The usb flash drive manufacturers claim up to 100 year life expectancy. Storage conditions would be of prime consideration.
