My solution? No Social Media at all (no FB, Twit, nada). Don't use Google (Use DuckDuckGo). Use FireFox with NoScript and a good cookie Utility (I use Cookie AutoDelete and Cookie Quick Manager). And a good VPN (Mullvad is a good choice...no traffic logging). A VPN will have to be turned off when necessary, as some sites (Amazon, Netflix, etc...even this forum...it breaks member functions) won't "work" (in example, I can't post here with my vpn running).

Another good practice is to get a good password safe and use different passwords & usernames at every site. Also use different email addresses. Free, throw-away email addresses are easy to come by. You can't have a different email for every account, but you can have 20 or 30. A password safe helps you here too.

No one can completely fly under the radar unless you live in the boonies and have no internet or cell phones, but the above goes a long way.

Yeah, it's tough to keeep up with all the updates, but I think slipstreaming the update7r2 pack into the install disc will simplify things. I still need to do some homework there, but it seems pretty simple, and doesn't include the 'bad' updates.

Just found the last # with the Win10 nag, corrected my list. But I'll probably use one of the other 3 methods, Simplix, Dism++ or update7r2.

I use similar measures.

No social media (especially farce book)
Don't use Google (I use Start Page)
I use the Brave Browser
I never give away my exact age or birthdate
I never use my real phone number online except for my credit union (I use an unused phone number i own and replace the exchange with 555; anyone supid enough to call that number will get directory assistance.
I rarely give out my full name (trusted vendors are an exception; even then, I don't give out my middle name)
I do not give out my home address (I have a private mailbox for mail and packages)

While not perfect, I see no point in making data collection any easier for the low lifes that do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't update7r2 download (and write to the install wim) the latest Simplex updates?

Simplix and updatepack7r2 are the same thing.

If you run updatepack7r2 on a live system it will update it.

simplix-run.jpg

Alternatively you can use cmd promt to point updatepack7r2 at an install.wim

e.g.
Code:
UpdatePack7R2.exe /WimFile=C:\install.wim /Index=3
