Can find little or no help on this so thought id try here.

I have a month old install of 7 with the 2011 version of live mail installed. Recently its started replacing its panels (mail folders/preview/ribbon) with a solid black fill.

Whichever panel(s) get effected is random and intermittent but the program needs to be restarted to fix it.
Pretty damn annoying!

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but otherwise stumped with this one. I wouldnt guess that the emails themselves have something to do with it.... or do they???

Cheers!

Keep track of what programs you use before using Live Mail

I use to have MS Money and every time that I used it my Outlook Express (Early version of live mail) would change colors. Just keep your eyes open.

Hmmm, well all i did was reboot before reinstalling... unless theres something running in startup that could cause it. I certainly dont have money or any similarly unusual programs installed. Ill try it in safe mode and see what happens.

You could try doing a repair install of "Windows Live Essentials" via "Programs and Features". BTW, I generally do installs and uninstalls in "clean boot" mode, which is not as drastic as safe mode. In msconfig just disable everything in the "startup" tab and in the "services" tab check the box to hide all Microsoft services before disabling what's left.

Black Panels.

Dear Chedmeister,
I know that you have done the uninstall/install for livemail, but I will tell you what I did and it seemes to have worked.
Uninstall Live Mail.
Download Live mail,NOT the whole Live essentials stuff.
Install live mail. The program looked normal, but did not work.Instead , a box appeared, saying I needed ".net framework V4.0.30319". I googled that in microsoft and found/downloaded the file.
Installed and ,no more black screens.
Of course it was only last night,so i have to give it a good road test.
DON'T download the file from anywhere except Microsoft, there are a heap of scam sites wanting $50 for the file.
Take Care.

Windows Live EMAIL FOLDER PANE BLACKED OUT

1) I exited Windows Live Mail.
2) I did the alt/cntr/del keystroke and went Windows Task Manager & went into SERVICES.
3) I WENT TO WLIDSVC and did a right-click and selected STOP SERVICE.
4) I Exited Windows Task Manager.
5) I Reopened Windows Live Mail.

;) THANK YOU silverballlz200

I hope it can help others because those mysterious black panels in my Live Mail had starting to be one big PAIN -
a lot lower than the neck too. :roflmao:

I often forget that opening up Task Manager can cure many evils on the spot.

For a few weeks all of a sudden I have the problem where WinMail is totally black. Even restarting it does not
help, I have to restart the computer, Then it works for a while. I tried the tactic of going to Task Manager and trying
to stop service on WLIDSVC but it tells me the operation cannot be performed since access is denied.
