Hi

I had a problem with a windows 7 laptop on our network, to sort the problem i took the laptop of the domain, with the idea of remote desktop back in to add to the domain again. My problem is the local admin account was not enabled, i now have no way of loggin into the machine.

I have tried "manage - connect to another computer" I am able to see the menu, but "local users and groups" has a red x through it telling me accessed is denied.

Is there way of enabling the local admin acount remotely?

thanks in advance

Not without having some type of administrative access to that computer remotely.

You may try a little program called ntpasswd. It's definitely helpful if you have forgotten your password, and may also help unlocking a user account, although I have not tested it for that purpose myself.

"Is there way of enabling the local admin acount remotely?"

I'm not sure about remotely but it can't hurt to have a look, see if Option Three in the tutorial at the link below will help sort it.

I am wondering if he meant he can't "see" the administrator account.

If I recall correctly, Win 7, unless you configure it to not show user last name, will revert back to the 'User Icon' buttons again.

I am also wondering if he tried to see if he can get onto the computer Via Safe Mode, as that was not mentioned either.
