Hello everyone,

I'm running Windows 7 on a custom build.

The problem: computer has a complete lockup. Mouse frozen, keyboard unresponsive, etc.

The activator: running windows update.

Event Viewer info: Application error and System error

level: error // source: WMI // ID: 10 // task category: none
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
Around the same time I found the following error under the system event tab:

level: error // source: services control manager //ID: 7001 // task category: none
The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start.

As long as I stay away from windows update and IE (on certain websites), the computer won't lock up.

I also have a Fedora on a separate HD that doesn't experience any lock ups on this system, leading me to believe it is purely software related.

Any ideas???
