Hi have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I have been experiencing lockups on shutdown for the past week even after a fresh install. So far I have not had a bluescreen. It seems I only have problems during shutdown. And event viewer shows nothing since I have to force shutdown otherwise It will just stay on the shutting down screen which is frozen:(

Just tried the hotfix doesn't work, says this update is not acceptable to your computer. And I downloaded the right one x64 version.

You can try a system restore to before it was happening.

I tried a fresh install and still have the same problem. I think it might be a driver issue and I am pretty sure all of my drivers are up to date.

Fresh Install BSOD

Just got a BSOD while browsing in Firefox and downloading Crysis in Steam. I have been having a lot of problems in the past month with locking up on shutdown and BSOD's. I thought I solved my problem with updating ATK Utility, but I guess not:(

Sorry I've been real busy

Your crash was a memory corruption. Either it is bad physical memory or bad driver memory. Start off by running memtest and see if it finds any errors

Hi sorry for the late response, I ran the memory test for 4 passes and found no errors I also ran driver verifier and got a bsod on startup. So hopefully this dump file will show which driver is causing the problem?

You use daemon tools...
Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads
You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

Your dumps are inconclusive even though some are Verifier enabled...

However I think you might also have a problem with your .NET4.0 environment. It wouldn't hurt to check for newest at microsoft.com. One of your dumps mentions this.

BTW your uploads are fine. We'll get to the bottom of this..

If you haven't done so already, please check if can replicate the bsod in Safe mode?

Post back results please + on new bsod's: full info incl logs.

I dont use daemon tools or any mounting program. I wonder if steam uses a mounting program to install games? Also it seems that if I uninstall too many programs and then restart that causes a bsod. I will try this in safe mode.

Edit: SPTD setup says no SPTD was detected. Also added an attachment for the bsod from my previous post.

Mmmm you're right, I don't see sptd anymore. Maybe my mistake.

Your last dump (from the 27th) would suspect Steam or steam related stuff. That process is mentioned both in the dump as in your log as faulting app.

As a test, you could de-install and test to see.

However , I still think something in your .NET environment is the most likely candidate. Have you been able to update or check that? Please post back your actions and results?

Finally, your logs also show you had trouble with Windows Update. Sometimes crashed or incomplete updates also cause instability. Please go to your Maintenance center and check that all updates have successfully installed. Finish them manually if you have to.

I updated .NET Framework 4 and also I do have a couple of failed updates I will redo the updates and see if that fixes the problem. I also noticed that it list ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY as failed. But I Installed the latest driver manually. Should I uninstall the driver then reboot and install the latest one?

Alright updated all the failed updates and reinstalled ACPI UTILITY. Also I do you think this might be the cause of the bsod since I have been getting black screens at login that last like 3 sec.
