I have a laptop that worked fine for about 4 months, but it's having errors now.
It was locking up and freezing pretty badly on startup, looked like it was related to explorer.exe crashes. I installed SP1 beta to eliminate any corrupt file problems and it helped with the lockups. It is getting this BSOD:
Code:

Which is something to do with kernel crashes? And could be hard drive related.

In Event Viewer it shows lots of #11 "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0" The errors start June 9th. I'm not sure about the lockups since I don't own the computer.

The BIOS is set to AHCI mode, in case that matters. The hard drive is a 320GB Hitachi 2.5" 5400rpm mobile drive.

Hi
illegal3alien and welcome

We really need the actual DMP file.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the "Crashes and Debugging" section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance

Jan

Please remove Virtual CD program such as Deamon tool or Alcohol 120%, they use sptd.sys, which I found in the loaded driver, well-known for causing BSODs. Please after removing Deamon tool, use this tool to remove sptd.sys:
DuplexSecure - Downloads

Please do a system file check, one of the system file was blamed:

I uninstalled Duplex Secure drivers. I ran sfc /scannow and it didn't find any problems. During the two reboots in the process it automatically ran chkdsk and found a few errors. I'm currently running it again (chkdsk /v /f)

Looks like it's working ok now. How do you view minidumps?

Most of us on the BSOD team use WinDbg. Glad you are running smoothly.
