Solved logged in as admin. but can't reset date and time

I'm trying to use my old PC, BC this new one is giving me problems. But I can't get online BC the date/time is set to this past August, when I got this newer PC. When I try to reset the date/time, I get an error message that I should contact the administrator--who is ME. I AM logged in as Administrator, so I can't figure out why it won't let me do the reset. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks for looking! I'm using windows 7 Professional on an old (2004) HP computer.

System seems confused, you are an admin but you normally run under a rights reduction as a standard user ( User Account control - a great security system but can get confused). You have the Pro version so should have access to the Group Policy Editor, Open this and check for an entry for "All users can set date and time" (Not sure of exact wording in Win7) and that it is set to ON/Allow

I have also seen this type of error when the CMOS battery on the Motherboard, (that powers the bios memory of time and other settings ), is low or exhausted so it may be checking this if the system is more than 3 or four years old

As long as he is admin , this problem can be easy to solved ,
In the computer control panel center, there is a "change date" setting, click it and set the date

To Barman 58: It worked! I had no idea how to get into the correct admin. settings page, but thanks to you, I was able to correct this problem. Thank you so very much for your help!!

I forgot to add this...BC the computer had been unplugged since August 2017, the backup battery had run down so the time just got stuck on August 17th. Now I'm good to go. Thanks again!!
