Logging back in after screensaver from Welcome Screen

I have my screensaver (W7, Enterprise, 32-bit) set to go to the login welcome screen after returning. It presents me with a welcome screen (my picture, account name) then "Locked", a password entry field and a Switch User button. However, it rejects my password telling me the username or password is wrong.

If I click on Switch User, the screen blanks for a second and then presents me the Welcome screen again, this time with "Logged in" instead of "Locked". This time it accepts my password.

This is annoying. I want to be able to just enter my password without having to switch user. After all, I'm the only user!

Anyone have any idea what's wrong here?

Please go to Start - Control Panel - Region and Language - Administrative tab - Copy Settings...
Make sure settings of a Current user are the same as for other users and Welcome Screen.

If they are not - Tick two options at the bottom of that window to copy your settings across all users and welcome screen.

Screensavers are not necessary unless you have an old CRT monitor since there is no longer a risk of "burn-in."

Consider turning off the screensaver and using a slideshow of Win7's spectacular backgrounds or other pictures, configured by rightclicking an empty area of the Desktop, then selecting Personalize.
