Loggon very very slow

Hello,

I am the happy owner of a laptop ASUS N56VZ (see technical details in my profile) for a few years.

For a while it takes a few minutes to be able to use Windows 7 after logging.

Does anybody know a tool to help in this kind of troubleshooting?

Ok Frederic let us know how you go. It will speed up the machine by how much is dependent on the hardware really ie SSD more RAM etc

Regular HDD is present in my laptop unfortunately. For sure putting a brand new SSD will make it faster

Well Frederic if you do all you need is a SSD the same size and just clone the original drive to it with Macrium.
Easy as falling off a log and out here right now a 500GB Samsung EVO SSD is about $260 so really not that expensive - as they used to be. An alternative of course is to have a small one for booting and a spinner for data but I prefer the all in one option

For the clone on a laptop you will need an adaptor like in my pic - cheap and easy to rig up

I will clean everything up with the tools you provided and try to remove unnecessary stuff. If my machine does not run better I will get a SDD then migrate all over.

Well I am pretty sure it will Fred the SSD is the ultimate though and I would just clone it to be honest unless you want to do a clean install then migrate data over

That is fine mate you need to look for any programs that are not needed or duplicated and run some cleaner ie CCleaner and the Windows feature - Disk Cleanup http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/818-disk-cleanup-open-use.html and https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download < this program has several features including uninstall etc but whatever you do when you run the cleaner > Analyze > when done go to > Options > Cookies > and send tot he right hand panel all the cookies you have for passworded sites or you will find yourself having to login all over again - tedious at best - time consuming even worse.

If the C: drive is a spinner then defrag it etc etc

And if it comes to that point, you can image to a network share with Macrium. I would guess you can recall from a network share with its bootable disk. Eliminating the need for a SATA to USB adapter.

Ok Gokhan mate that point is at point #9 in the Optimise tut and just for the record there are a lot of linked tuts to that and the one you have quoted.
That point I mention also has several methods as does anything that Brink has made such a thorough job of everything he does he seems to leave no stone unturned eh?
