Logitech 2.1 -- sub slider in C.C. speaker settings does nothing!

If I go to sound > speaker properties > levels > balance to adjust the subwoofer volume, I can't. The L and R sliders work fine. Any ideas? Using onboard sound.

How are your speakers connected and what speakers do you have? The reason I ask is that for a typical three-piece speaker system (L-R-Subwoofer) using the 3-contact mini-plug you really only have stereo. Lots of stereo speaker systems advertise themselves as 2.1 when they are really not.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have a set of Logitech Z-2300 speakers. The side speakers connect to the sub, and the sub connects to the computer by a 3.5 mm plug.

The 2.1 is a misnomer here. In effect you have two stereo speakers sharing a woofer. The extra audio controls built into Windows won't do anything beyond Left and Right.

It looks like there is an output control attached to the speakers themselves for subwoofer level adjustment.

Yes, there is a remote control, but the bass knob turned all the way down, haha. There is A LOT of bass anyway. That's why it would be nice to be able to separately control the sub. But I suppose that's not possible, then. Again, thanks for the help.

Look in the software for your sound chip and you'll probably find a Bass/Treble or Equalizer setting where you can smooth out the Bass. Tell me what sound is built into your motherboard and what software you have installed for it and I may be able to point you in the right direction.

Not sure about that, my friend. I have a Gigabyte P55 MB. I think the on-board sound is unbranded? Also, I can't seem to find an equalizer anywhere in the sound sections of the windows motherboard.

Nearly every Gigabyte board I've seen uses the Realtek onboard audio. Gigabyte should have their own audio driver package for it which will include all the extra controls, sound effects, etc. Here's what the equalizer looks like for the Realtek sound on my ASUS board:
