I am having a weird problem.

My mouse is a logitech g700s.
I have it connected as a wired mouse via usb.

I noticed it would randomly be unresponsive
then a few seconds later it would make the windows sound and I can move the mouse again.

How to fix this?

I suggest verifying you are using USB 2.0 ports instead of USB 3.0 ports.

does 1600 dpi affect windows performance or possible cause of this problem?
I recall setting that dpi, it was just what was default (i think)

What is the purpose of higher dpi and polling rate?
And what is recommended?

what mouse do u have?

My current settings in logitech gaming software

DPI
1600

Polling rate
1000 reports per second

Hi,
Higher dpi and polling rate would use more power
Some older usb's might not be able to keep up
I have 2 redragon perdition
On an Acer Polling is on 125Hz and dpi on minimum of 1000 dpi it is a older mother board with old usb ports.
My ASUS polling is 500HZ and I still use 1000dpi
But this mouse has a dpi+- button which I leave alone.

I have to connect via USB, cos the battery does not last long on this mouse.

I would often have to recharge it daily, which would require me plugging the usb cable in daily.

So there was no point and I decided to just connect to USB permanently.

I find that if it I lower the dpi, the speed of the mouse pointer would reduce.

do u know what is the difference between dpi and polling rate?

I notice when the mouse is unresponsive
it makes the windows sound like it was disconnected and then it reconnects.

This is just what I think is happening and why it is responsive.
I also notice my TV software program momentarily stutters/freezes when the mouse becomes unresponsive for the few seconds and when the mouse works again, the TV also continues playing.

Interesting I just did a google and found this for the G700 mouse, though mine is G700s
but seems like same issue

Hi,
From what I have figured dpi makes the mouse need more power
Power the usb 2 might not be able to maintain

I've Unchecked all the extra dpi listings on mine except for the lowest and manually changed the lowest to 750 dpi from 1000 dpi and it still works okay.

Polling is the same as stated 125Hz

But yes I have weak usb2 ports mostly because of using a key board that screwed them up demanding too much power from a single usb connection.
I did see something elsewhere about in power options/ usb settings/ and disable usb selective suspend.

yeap, i saw that solution in the threads links i posted above

I already checked mine, and it is disabled already.

Also another solution suggested in those threads is to go to

Device manager > USB Root hub properties > Power management TAB > Disable - Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

I have done this and will wait and see if it fixes it.

I also moved my mouse to another USB port.

Hi,
Yea I just check in device manager and all 8 usb hubs were already unchecked to save power so I suppose that is what power options does :)

I like this lighting.... devices but dang they soak up the juice :)

There are some splitters that split a single usb device cable so it uses 2 usb ports.
