Hello,

The above failure has occured ("logon process initialization failure" ).

what happend before:

- CPU over heated error upon startup
-- cleaned computer
--cleaned & applied new thermal paste (old stuff was dry)
--- outcome: CPU over heat error upon startup
--Did a BIOS repair and update
--Did a Windows update
-System restored to a later date
-System restored to current date ( basically and undo of the above system restore)
--System restore failed
--Retried the sytem restore
-- CPU overheat error occurs
--"logon process initialization failure" occured
--Restarted computer, same failure and overheat error occur
--Occurs just after the Windows start up screen.

Specs:
-Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
-i5 cpu

I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue, if you need any more information I will try to supply it.

Sounds like the CPU is either still overheated, or is damaged from the overheating.

Check to make sure that the cooler is fully seated against the CPU.
Check to make sure that the cooler is clear of dirt/dust/debris
Check to make sure that the fan (for the cooler) is running

If all of these are OK and you still get overheating errors, I'd have to suspect a problem with the CPU (either the heat spreader on the CPU isn't making contact with the actual components underneath the heat spreader - or that the damage to the CPU has cause it to "stick" when reporting heat errors).

You'll need someone who's more expert than I to help diagnose this. Try over in the General forums (or a hardware/CPU forum)

SOLVED:

-for the over heat error i wasn't waiting long enough for the cleaning solution to fully dry (before putting on thermal paste), even tho it looked dry

-for the initialization error, i don't know if it fixed it, but i put my win 7 disc in and did another system restore only to a different point and it seemed to work

sorry for wasting time... it was just stupid mistakes and me not going through all my options.

Not a problem and no apology is necessary. That's how most of us learn things - by messing things up and then figuring out how to fix them!

Good luck!
