Looking 4method or software 2increase the volume of front speakers

I am looking for a way or software to increase the volume of the front speakers from a 5.1 speaker system. If I use Windows Volume Control Options and test the 5 speakers all sound great and equal. However, if I watch a movie or play a game the front speakers are barely audible. I am aware that the movie or game itself may have a lot to do with it nevertheless I would like to have control over this.
My sound is ''AMD High Definition Audio Device'' coming from the AMD catalyst set of drivers.
I looked up "Audio Manager" or "Sound Manager" but the result are of software, that in my opinion is wrongly named, being that they are music file managers and have nothing to do with sound/audio.

AMD High Definition Audio Device from AMD Catalyst is NOT your PC sound device. The AMD is for HDMI audio.

You audio, according to the specs on the ASUS site, is VIA VT1708S 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC

Unless there is a VIA control panel with separate level controls for the different speakers you are stuck with what you have. Many video players and games have audio options and that is probably the best you can do.

fireberd thanks. You know I had similar news regarding my sound but somehow research in the past few years of updates always brought me to where I was. Neither Belarc Advisor, nor Speccy, which you may know, have no such Via listed in its search of my hardware; though yes, Asus will end up pointing to it when doing a search for drivers. All Belarc says is ''[FONT=&quot]AMD High Definition Audio Device'' and ''High Definition Audio Device[/FONT]'' And Speccy only has ''[FONT=&quot]AMD High Definition Audio Device" under 'Audio'' Both Belarc and Speccy[/FONT] don't ever mention VIA anything.
What am I supposed to think? Which brings me to your ''VIA VT1708S 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC'' When I go to the ASUStek website and do my search (Why I must start with my socket is beyond me) starting from ''[FONT=&quot]Socket 1156 LGA'' it takes me to ''[/FONT][FONT=&quot]P7P55D-E LX" [/FONT]which is indeed my MB. However my results do not equal yours. All I get is ''VIA_Audio_V6018700a_XpVistaWin7'' which is as old as my computer (4 years).
A search for your codec on ASUS actually produced zero results and doing so on Google brought me to the VIA website but besides warning me against using its website to download drivers I could not find where to download what you suggested either.

Update to above: Having just installed the drivers for the VIA I now remember how I ended up with the AMD instead. Once installed sounds don't work. This is what happened. I had to change and reboot twice to get some sounds to work someway having used the ''HD VDeck'' which comes in once VIA is installed. What happened is this: Windows starts and there are no Windows sounds. You test sound on VDeck and all is heard well. You then go to the Windows Sound Panel making sure the new "Speakers VIA HD Audio is selected and I go to configure and all 6 speakers test out perfectly. However you then go to the 'Sounds' panel to test Windows default sounds and nothing is heard. You open Windows Media player and nothing is heard and the same goes for MediaMonkey, GOM and VLC--no sounds. I was able to make MM work by pointing it away from the 'Default Speakers' but the point here is, sounds aren't working the way they are supposed to with VIA. And it is because of these problems, way back when, that I ended up using the AMD Catalyst which has been working fine--but limits me perhaps.
Addendum: I wonder if VIA still exists since their support forums, FAQ and other links no longer seem to work

What I linked is what came up when I did a google search for your listed motherboard and then linked to the motherboard on the ASUS site. However, I have seen this before on another user with an ASUS board that the ASUS site listed the VIA for the sound driver, but there was no driver listed.

The AMD is for HDMI audio ONLY through the HDMI connection on the Video Card. As you have an HDMI connected monitor, are you connecting your speaker system to an audio out on the Monitor? That would be the "logical" way that you are using the AMD HDMI audio driver. The "Speakers" should be the default playback device for the PC's sound card. If you have the generic, basic function Windows Installed sound driver it would be listed as "HD Audio Codec". The AMD sound is a separate sound chip on the video card.

The AVI has been uninstalled due to problems listed above. My speakers, have 9 cables attached to the woofer; 3 of those are then attached to the back of the PC. Nothing is attached to the monitor (Well the monitor is attached to the PC but nothing else. The AMD HDMI output has been disabled. f I don't disable it the ''Speakers' for some reason can not be made default and therefore causing other problems (This problem, of abling/disabling didn't exist prior to the VIA installation and uninstallation but seems to exist while via existed and now as well after uninstalling it.) The Listing of ''Speakers"" below written 'High Definiton Audio Device' is now set as default--as was before. That is indeed the generic since it installed itself (Windows did) upon the uninstallation of the VIA (and is not listed as ""HD Audio Codec" that I could see anywhere. What now? BTW thanks sincerely for your help here I truly appreciate it.

If I understand correctly you have the VIA and the HD Audio Codec shown. If this is the case, go to the Device Manager and disable the HD Audio Codec, leaving the VIA enabled (and set as Default playback device).

Having both the VIA and the generic Windows HD Audio Codec enabled can potentially cause conflicts and problems.

I continue to be grateful for your help. And I had a type-o which may have confused things--Did not mean AVI but rather VIA. In other words the VIA has been completely uninstalled for all the reasons mentioned. But when it was installed the other was disabled but NOT in Device Manager but rather by the sound device manager (and by this I mean I R-click on the sound icon on the bottom right hand corner of the taskbar, and selecting 'Playback Devices' (which I think is connect to some degree to device manager as well, is it not?)

Back to your original question about increasing volume levels. If it is OK with the speaker test but not in certain circumstances or programs, its usually a function of the program, and not a problem with the actual sound card.

You are absolutely right if a movie doesn't have such sound then there is no way of hearing it. Logic enough but I found it odd that absolutely no film provided such and no game as well. It's not a problem with the speakers since when tested all is perfect, as mentioned. So yes, new drivers/codecs could perhaps help in this but more so if I had a way to manage the distribution of such sounds to given speakers (In my case increase the volume of the front ones) then I would solve my problem. Because, as is, as I see it, it makes having 5 speakers useless since 2 are barely audible.
