Looking for a good open source ISO burner that makes bootable CD's

Last time I made a bootable CD was about three years ago; can't remember what utility I used to burn it. Now I need to make another one, but the one I burned from a supposedly bootable ISO file does not boot. I don't recall last time having to do anything like specifically extract a boot sector file, save it & inject it into an ISO file. I think the ISO burner SW I used this time just doesn't build the boot sector right.

Hope someone has a suggestion for an effective ISO utility that can burn bootable CD's. Prefer open source.

ImgBurn was the SW I used to burn the supposedly bootable ISO file that wouldn't boot. But I got it to work. After numerous attempts, I noticed a message that flashed on my screen when starting to boot: "Select CD-ROM Boot Type". This clue led me to a thread suggesting (1) my CD/DVD drive might not be compatible with AHCI mode; and (2) make sure that my CD/DVD drive is the first boot option. Suggestion #1 did not pan out, as I found no option in my BIOS to change between IDE and AHCI. But when I checked the boot order, I found that while the CD/DVD was in the boot order before the HD, it was not the first option, but 3rd behind USB floppy & USB CD/DVD. I pushed them both down to the end, bring the internal CD/DVD to the top of the boot order. Then my same CD booted just fine.
