Looking for recommendations on a new printer.

Lady Fitzgerald it sounds like we had about the same experience with inkjets. Never again.
It sure took me a lot of printers and time to catch on and get a Laser Jet.
I also bought a backup cartage at the same time. I will probable will never use up the cartage that came with the printer but one never knows.

Another little trick.
I bought the same printer my local computer uses in house.
That way I know I will never have to look far for a cartage. They keep them in house for their own use.

I buy my toner cartridges online now. They are more likely to be fresher than ones bought locally. I get plenty of warning before I run out. It will probably be a couple years or more before I need to replace my current set (and I'll probably replace the entire printer—a Samsung—with a new Brother).

I have an Epson WF-3620. Good everyday inkjet printer. Print, copy, scan, fax, wireless, and cloud print. I can also forward emails from my Note-4 to print when not at home. Not a workhorse, but solid and less than $150. If I was in a production environment and needed something higher end, and the budget was there.... color laser for sure.

Not if you want a good one, especially for a 3 in 1.

There is no way I would consider an HP.

I'm off HP personally the last all in one I got was pure junk

I probably print 20 pages per month - at most. Except in March when I print out a hard copy of my taxes. I have an HP Photosmart 7525 (same as the 7520 but the 7525 was sold exclusively through Sam's warehouse - only difference is the label and 7525 came with a USB cable).

Anyway, I bought it in February 2013 and it has worked perfectly since. I do, however, try to remember to print out a test page once a week if I have not printed out something that week - just to keep the ink wet.

Since I leave it on all the time (reconnecting the Wi-Fi can be a bit temperamental at times)

I have seen this with several different printer devices from all makers. I discovered after a power outage (I live in Tornado Alley) or simple router reset, IP assignments to all my devices (including smart TVs, Roku, tablets, cell phones, computers, etc.) would occasionally shift. This was no problem for the devices except in Windows, the printer's network port would be set to the old IP address, thus print jobs would just sit in the queue. I would have to edit the printer's properties on all my computers - not hard but a PITA.

I resolved this by assigning a static IP address for the printer in my router that was up and out of range of all my other device ensuring the printer would always get the same IP address, thus all the computers would always have the correct address to print too. No problems in that area since either.
