Losing Windows focus every few seconds

yes that is interesting and i checked - there are 2 mscorsvw.exe running one from windows\system32 the other from windows\microsoft.NET\framework\v4.0.30319 ran the ngen.exe executequeueditems in the later ok but it wont run under the system32 folder. and its the one from system32 which is using the CPU albeit in low priority mode

Then if you haven't already done so i would run Malwarebytes and CCleaner. I presume you have an up to date anti virus software installe?

Microsoft Security Essentials up to date and run daily.

Advance systemcare, malwarebytes and ccleaner all run - problem even worse now, still have mscorsvw.exe x2 running - windows\system32 one is low priority but eating all free cpu, cant run ngen.exe against this one and it instantly restarts when [End Process] . Now focus goes every second.

run sfc /scannow - reset some sidebar bits - but still have the problem

OK, so I engaged brain and spent sometime looking at the running processes. highlighted each process and it looks like it is now trying to run mscorsvw.exe from the system32 folder AND the system32\update folder - it is not in the update folder but somehow still manages to use 27.xx meg of memory before it stops and restarts with a conhost.exe start/stop as well. number of running processes on the snapshots is between 65 and 67.

The one continually restarting is normal priority and is running under my user , the low priority one which eats cpu is under SYSTEM

Advance System Care has caused more clean installs than just about anything. I recommend removing it and pray it's not to late.
This is usually the next step.

ok, Advanced systemcare uninstalled via control panel - programs and features.

So has this cured the problem? If not I would say the time has come to do as LaybackBear suggests in his last post. Following the tutorial to the letter will give you a perfect install of Windows 7. Highly recommended!!!!

I still have the problem. does anyone have any ideas other than clean install ?

The problem is USER specific, I have created a new user and dont have the problem. The only thing I have opened is a single Firefox session.

I will check with the supplier if I can run a clean install as NetIntelligence was built into it during its build process.

I don't think it will be possible to get data/email backed up from the affected user account as it was losing focus to frequently

But NetIntelligence is a straightforward software program that you can download for £19.99. Then again if you have been charged for it by your PC supplier then you should have a licence key for it so you could download the trial version and activate with your key. So far as backing up your data is concerned you could always run Ubuntu from a CD and locate your folders and files that way. No need to loose any data!

Checked with the supplier and there is no support other than reset to factory default. and the last part of message is

'Please note, no recovery disk or license keys are available for any software supplied as part of a Home Access package'

Well so much for good customer relations. Are they very cheap 'cos that don't sound that cheerful?
I would still go for a clean install. If you need the Netintelligence then to protect children if that is what you want it for the what's £19.99?
BTW If you go for a clean install forget Comodo and use Windows Security Essentials, it's free and all you need!

It's supplied by Misco and I have nothing but praise for the way they have helped in the past. This is a result of the way Home Access operated. They had a specification which suppliers were not allowed to deviate from and would only pay for a 12 month warranty/support package and that would have expired 2 years ago!
I use the Comodo browser, I already use Security Essentials. I'm thinking of ditching NetIntelligence anyway, their server was offline at inconvenient times which blocked all internet access and my daughter is 16 now.

The problem has to be connected to something which is specific to the user account affected - thanks to everyone who has tried to help me.

Maybe you can manage to setup a clean boot for the user account that is impacted:

I would also consider running a scan with WDO:

If none of the above steps help, then Process Monitor might be able to show you the event that is stealing focus. See this post for details on getting/using Process Monitor.
