Hi. Currently I really really need your help for solving one of my problem below:
-I have cut one file (>5GB) from file server and past it to my Local Drive (D:).

-During that process I got problem with network connection , so the process still ask to retry the process. After the connection is back, then I try to click on Retry and the process is completely finished.

-BUT the problem is both source and destination is empty, no file found. :(

Did any one know what the problem with this process?
And how can i get my important data back?

Thanks,
SOPHAL.

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

Think you will have a problem retrieving your data, since you cut it, and the connection was lost, id say the files are now corrupt and are lost. So a very little chance of getting it back. Sorry.

Thanks for your quickly reply.
Normally source data will be deleted after the process of Cut & Past is completed.
But now it was deleted in both source and destination.
Do you know what is the best program for recover my big file back from RAID 5 Storage ?

You could try one of those many "undelete" programs out there. Advice for next time. NEVER DO cut and paste, or move when using a network connection, always use copy then delete from the original location once it is verified to have transferred safely.

Thanks for your comment. Actually for previous windows during we do process cut & past if connection lost it will terminate the process and the file at the source still available there. BUT for windows 7 when the connection lost it as for Try Again, and when the connection up back and I click on Try Again, then the transfer was completed moved BUT MY DATA WAS LOST. This is the one of disadvantage of windows 7 that make my long long time emails file lost. And my file is very big file, which is hopeless to recover it back. I'm very upset about this new windows.:mad::mad:

I'm not sure where to lay the blame in this situation, the lost of network connectivity is as a result of what? But moving a large file of that magnitude you would think isn't the best idea to do so over the network. Shiat happens i suppose but at the end of the day, you cannot blame anyone/Windows. Depend on how the connection was lost, total power lost or just session timeout. One is terminal and the other isn't.

I assume there was no backup of the file on the server?

During process, the electricity was cut off. For my laptop and server is ok, but for my wireless router doesn't have electric backup so it make the network down about 1min then the electric come back. And for the file that I moved just only temporary store in the server because i need to format my windows to windows 7, and after my windows upgraded to windows 7, i try to move it back from my server to my laptop then i got that problem. During that time is not in the schedule of my backup.:cry::cry:
