Hello, over the past week or two my computer has been getting worse. Explorer will freeze sometimes when I try to open a folder, or right click an icon. When it restarts, I get an error saying there's not enough memory. If I try rebooting my computer, it will get stuck at the 'logging off' screen. This morning I started getting the 'not enough free memory' error just trying to open the wireless center! I can't open the Control Panel, Documents, or anything explorer related. Can anyone help fix this? I'm getting really ticked off. I'm running a virus scan right now. If this is the wrong forum for this, mods, please move it. Thanks! EDIT: Also, when explorer crashes, I sometimes will get an error ""The remote procedure call failed and did not execute" after it restarts and I try to open a folder. Are these related?

Welcome
Make sure the scan is upadated and make a full scan
Download and make a full updated scan with malwarebytes.
It may be a memory problem. If the above two are negative, take memtest86
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/246994-guide-to-using-memtest86/
Right click on the bottom task bar, bring up task manager and check cpu usage, anything unexplained and significant.?

Thank you for the reply! I'm about to go to work for a few hours, I'll download malwarebytes and memtest when I return. Right now I'm using MS Security Essentials. Task manager says my cpu is at 5-10%, and 1.67 RAM. It looks pretty normal.

Malwarebytes and MSSE both can back clean. I'm gonna try checking the RAM now. EDIT: Checked the RAM, everything is ok. Rebooting fixed the memory and explorer problems, but I'm sure it'll start again.

Ok, it just started again. Computer was on for a day or so, I try right-clickin an icon, explorer froze. It restarted, now i get the "remote procedure failed' message. I also can't right-click my desktop without explorer locking up. HELP!

When you experience the memory problem, which seems to be the cause of everything, right click on bottom task bar
Task manger
process tab
check view process from all users
click on top of process column to bring up the process using most memory
Take a screen shot and post it here.
