Hey guys.

Well not long ago i upgraded to windows 7 (clean install) and everything was working right, except my games.

Normally, when i had windows xp, I could run morrowind at 50 - 90 fps

Now that i have windows 7 it seems that i can't pass 10!

This is happening to all my games except soldier of fortune.

THIS IS NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE

Please reply soon, i am so eagar to play COD 4 at more then 10 fps !
:D

I might be your RAM. Windows 7 needs more RAM than xp,and 1.25gb are very poor. Just throwing it out there, might not be the problem.

Sadly, the hardware specs you have listed do not really meet min. requirements for most gaming under Win7.

Ideally, You'd want at least a 2.6 Dual Core and 3Gb+ RAM to do any gaming.

Older games may be OK, but anything newer will be a issue.

For something like Call of Duty 4, a more powerful GPU may be needed(more VRAM) And certainly more system RAM.

COD4 Specs:
“Required (min) Specs”
  • CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.4 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 2800+ processor or any 1.8Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported
  • RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista)
  • Harddrive: 8GB of free hard drive space
  • Video card (generic): NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 6600 or better or ATI(R) Radeon(R) 9800Pro or better
“Recommended Specs”
  • CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core or better is recommended
  • RAM: 1GB for XP; 2GB for Vista is recommended
  • Harddrive: 8GB of free hard drive space
  • Video card: 3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better

I have a ati 4650 video card and am also getting way low fps in americas army since going to windows 7. I have a amd quad at 2.4, four gig memory, 360 gig sata drive most current video drivers. I tried oc on cpu and gpu also and still frame rates were unchanged which leads me to believe windows 7 itself has something to do with it but what it is I don't know what. I wish I could figure it out and am open to any ideas.
Thanks
Mick

Actually that is a pretty terrible card to run on that system. It is the bottleneck.

I will assume that you are switching from XP. The system requirements to run XP are significantly less than Seven. Because of this, more CPU power is being put towards running the OS, and less towards your game. Because that GPU is (way) less powerful than your CPU, you are seeing a large bottleneck in gaming because the GPU cannot keep up, and the CPU has no clock cycles left either.

No I had gone from vista to seven. So am I to conclude that I need a newer video card?

You might as well just buy couple of new RAM, usually windows 7 requires at-least 3GB for gaming like wishmaster mentioned. Just curious how vista handled it and seven isn't handling it.

Hey!

Try using a driver cleaner* to completly remove any trace of an old VGA driver from your system.
then download the latest driver from ATI website (dont use the one on the disc you got with the card).

if you still have a problem, open the Task Manager and look for any services that are using a lot of computer resources in the background.

* try this driver cleaner (Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com)

Good luck!

Does the game use DirectX 9? Do you have DX9 installed? If I remember correctly clean install win 7 don't have DX9.
