Macrium 6.x questions

Hi,
I'm looking for a good & free imaging program to install on my Windows 7 x64 machine as I've decided to disable"the built in "System Restore" for its shaky reliability. I'm thinking about Macrium 6.x but before wasting time with it, I'd like to know if the free version can exclude the hibefil.sys (hibernation file), pagefile.sys (paging file) & other useless files made by Windows, by default? or this exclusion feature is not even included in the free version?

Hello mag mag I don't know the specifics of your query re certain material being imaged but I use this all the time on a regular basis (weekly) and if you want ask in this tutorial the authour is brilliant.

Thanks ICIT2LOL for taking the time to answer but unfortunately that didn't help my original question about whether the free version can exclude the non-important files in Windows (to reduce imaging time and size) or it's a feature that is only available in paid versions.

Macrium v6 free can not exclude specific files.
I don't know if the paid version has this option.

I used Acronis paid for many years, and could exclude specific files.
That was "important" to me.

I tested several Imaging programs to decide on getting a more current Imaging program/version.
Acronis, Macrium, AOMEI, EaseUS, and there are many others available.
And they probably all have free and paid versions, with different features for paid.

I chose Macrium free, it's reliable, has new features i really like, runs fast, etc.
I "learned" being able to exclude specific files is not as important for me, as other features.

The only way you (or anyone) will know what works best for you is to test the various programs available.
There are pros and cons to everything.

If you can, set up a small "test partition" that you can backup/restore/test with.
That way you can see for yourself what you like best.
Yes, it's time consuming, but for me Imaging is the most important program i use.
It's worth the time and effort for me to do the testing and make the right choice.

For me, Backup Imaging is the most important program i use, it can recover from whatever i do, or whatever happens to my OS, including malware, bad updates, etc.

I believe the Intelligent Copy function within Create An Image will exclude those two files. I can't prove it because I was unable to explode one of my OS images to see the folders and files backed up via full-image Intelligent Copy. I guess you simply have to download the freebie and try it.

I do have trouble seeing the mice printing in Macrium Reflect. What keystrokes did you do to see an exploded view of a full-image?

Open Macrium Reflect
Select the Restore tab
Select the backup image you want to browse
Click on Browse Image

Click on the check box in Backup Selection, assign drive letter, and click OK

It then shows up in Windows (file) explorer like any other partition.

When you're done browsing, click on Detach... in Macrium Restore.

Got it, thanks! I'll remember your steps when I'm within my 6.1 version. I may earlier seen a breakout, however, I was doing too many things to notice what I was looking at
