Updated Macrium free to latest version - 7.2.440
Windows 7 SP1 now on a SSD.

Wanted to create a new CD-RW rescue media and ended up with this message on the log -

Build process started
PEVersion: Windows RE
Architecture: x86
Building WIM...
WIM creation success, building rescue media...
Creating optical media...
Generating ISO file at C:\Users\GPT\AppData\Local\Temp\Rescue.iso
Using hpcde Interface to generate ISO...
Rescue media generation failed at the media creation stage

I am a bit confused as the location specified shows an ISO file of 206,924KB

Any thoughts from anyone?

I am even more confused as there is a second file called waiklog.txt

"The operation completed successfully.
Adding settings to the Windows PE registry...
Creating reflect.cfg...
Unmounting the wim - 29/08/2019 11:50
"C:\Windows\system32\dism.exe" /unmount-wim /mountdir:"c:\boot\macrium\WinREFiles\mount" /commit

Image File : c:\boot\macrium\WinREFiles\media\sources\boot.wim
Image Index : 1

Unmounting image

I can post the full text if that is needed...........

Did you restart pc after the update? Have you already made a USB boot? I sometimes have the same problem with my MR7. Usually, I try again, making sure I "told" winpe to update. I am at school, do not have MR in front of me.

Thanks for responding but not sure what you mean?

Oh ok no I did not reboot after updating the software.
USB boot - no as I was trying to use a disk.

As mentioned the two log files are completely contradictory so not sure what is going on.

Forgive me this probably stupid question but can I test the disk to boot without it affecting any of the current settings especially registry changes made since the rescue media was initiated?

Yes you can test boot any USB and DVD. Simply do nothing and exit.

Thanks.

Tested original disk which hung at loading for ages so switched off. Then created a new bootable disk which said it had completed. Ran that and it went through to start to load some USB drivers so I switched off.
I am presuming it is now working :-)
