Sounds a lot like the Nv4_disp.dll infinite loop error from Windows XP.

Look it up.

There doesnt seem to be one certified fix for it...

I beg to differ - on my pair of 260s the best driver I have found in terms of stability and performance is 185.20 - although where I found it I cannot remember anymore....

i am wondering if you solved the problem.
I am having the same issue on my pc.
I have a nividia gtx 280 and running xp home 32bit, the issue started happening about 6 mouths after using the card so after trying different drivers and rolling back etc i sent the card back on exchange.
i am now using the same brand and card and now after 8 months i am have the same issues again. i am assuming it is a technical issue not software


i have checked the card and it is clean so i am not sure on the reason and the problem occurs commonly on screen resolution changes (game loading and map changing)
but does not always happen?
