Make Record in "Programs and Features" for Programs With No Installer?

I'm migrating to a new PC today (this is posted from the new one), and I'm determined to keep it more organized than my last one. I use a lot of opensource software, much of which doesn't have an installer, it's just copied to wherever you want it and shortcuts made manually. This is a problem when I'm trying to remember what's there.

Is there a way to create a record in "Programs and Features" for this software? I can create an uninstall command script for each one if it requires an uninstaller to be listed here, or whatever needs to be done. I just don't know how this part of Windows 7 works.

EDIT: I just found this. I'm still reading, but it looks like what I need.

Hi 4evrplan, welcome to the Seven Forums.

As far as I know it is not possible to manually add portable applications to Programs and Features list.

I have solved this simply by creating a folder called Portable Apps on C:\Program Files, adding all portable apps here in their own subfolders. A folder listing of this folder = a list of my portable apps, backing up all portable apps for instance before reinstalling Windows I simply just need to copy this one folder with its subfolders.

@Kari Looking at that article I linked to, I think it could be done. But, your solution is much cleaner, with less work up-front and less potential for issues down the road, so I think I'll just do that. Thanks!
