Good evening,

I am having more frequent and severe problem opening pdf files since Adobe Reader DC replaced my Ver 9 Reader. I have thousands of pdf files covering many subjects. Files collected years ago will no longer open. New downloads of text articles, diagrams, tech manuals, etc. won't work. They are said to have been corrupted by some vague obscure action. Uninstalling the new version and reinstalling a previous version is a waste of time. The new ARDC simply returns as if nothing ever happened. A safari into the Great Registration Jungle is under consideration. In the meantime, existing refugee files are being transported to an old PC with multiple hard drives and complete isolation from the internet or any network. Hopefully the files have not been altered by a communicable infection.

Having libraries of material virtually burned is terrible to consider. Hopefully I am simply an ignorant old relic from the precomputer dominated era.

Best Regards,

Phredtx

I agree on foxit reader. Although it has become slightly bloated and they have tried to imitate office it still beats Adobe reader. Just don't install the premium add on.

Foxit Reader

Hi,

I went and looked at the Foxit Reader. It looked pretty good, but I can't afford it. I don't want to get a trial software package. The download was free, but they expect to be payed if you keep using it. I'll figure out something. Thanks.

Agree with townsbg!

Seems as though you went to the Foxit website by what you are describing. Go to the Ninite website, download and install it from there. FoxIt Reader is free

Other FoxIt software, including other PDF software, may be free or paid, depending on the software in question.

The link I provided was from the Ninite website. They do not have any paid software listed. If you use the Ninite Foxit one-click-installer, it installs the default settings for that choice, no bloatware, no crapware, no pay for.

I like free! You can usually find a free application that will perform essentially the same functions as paid
Here's the link below. Read over the page, and check out the various applications available. I use this website all the time.

Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once

There are free versions on their website. Just look for the ones that don't say free trial.
