is there a way in which to force MC to see *.IFO file types? i have 98% of my movies archived on my external hd in the Video_ts.IFO format.

i have klite codec pack install and so i am able to watch *.IFO files with either media classic or thru WMP12.

the problem that caused this is MC locks up when trying to access the files when the folder is associated with the movie library (see my prior thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/media-center/32730-media-center-locks-when-looking-thru-movie-thumbs.html ). however, when i have the exact same folder associated with the video library, i have no problems watching the movies...which is odd in my opinion. how is it able to work in the video library and not in the movie library?

also, i moved a couple of the movie folders over to the main hd and tried to associate that folder w/in MC...i found that i was not able to associate a folder that has *.IFO files in either the video or movie library w/in MC. that's when i noticed that i had a couple .avi files in the main movie folder that's on my external hd and that was the reason i was able to associate the folder w/in MC in the first place.

which brings me back to the purpose of this thread...how can i get MC to see .IFO files? i can play the files no problem, but MC just doesn't "see" them by themselves.

and my secondary question is why can MC play the files no probs in the video library but not in the movie library?

thanks in advance for any assistance...

i cant believe no ones responded to this. I found a great thread for solving this problem in Windows Vista, its involved one registry change which was very simple but it doesn't work in windows 7 64 bit home edition for me.

I have the same problem, some times in media center it will play the sound but ussualy nothing at all. Under movies my video shows up as it should but when i click on it to watch it, its says. cannot find file, etc.

How to: play ripped DVDs on Vista Media Center
